You can use any character defined by the ISO 10646 universal
character set. If Big5 (or GB2312) does not have that
character, you can use a "numeric character reference".

I did try the replace function, it worked for me at other characters, such
as 'Ã','Â','¢','¯','¤','â', but not on this
one. So I did some research, and found out in AL32UTF8, there are several
codes represent this very similar character. What I found are chr(49795) ,
chr(49794), chr(49792), chr(49816). And I know there are more.
is there a code map out there for these 5 digits characters? |

printable' when I searched online in the last a few days. Does printable or
non-printable simply mean those characters can be print out? I tried to
write a PL/SQL to print out all charater form chr(1) to chr(10000), and did
see many characters could not show. But specifically for these 5 digits code
like 49816, 49792, they actually were printed out but look like garbage
characters. Any one could clear me out of this?

your browser does not treat Numeric Character References correctly (according to HTML 4 or XML rules); or
you do not have the correct font installed or selected;
you browser uses the "encoding" to determine which font to use, and the font it has selected does not have the
characters.
Try changing the "Encoding" menu item (e.g. to Big5 or UTF-8): it is under a different menu on different browsers. ) |

引起几个问题:

是政府在政治改革上的无作为,贻误时机,可能酿成大错.
2) 过滤技术太差,这篇文章根本中国政府敏感的问题;
3) 国家政府级搞的软件, 还这么低级的翻译 关键字 - "Key Characters"? 都是什么
人 ?!
4) "Disallowed"倒是翻译出很有我们政府强权武断的味道. 从高级到下层, 官本位根

得是：character不是与生俱来的，如果是与生俱来的应该是nature更合适一些。
characer指的是后天经过生活的历练而具有的（正面的）品格。有一个姊妹查到她的英
文bible里面的解释是charater=a proved faith and tried integrity. 所以翻为老练
也比较贴切但似乎没有把里面微妙的释义传达出来。如果你有进一步，欢迎你再贴给我

I am trying to process an xml-tagged chinese document using Python's minidom.
But my code gets stuck when it hits the first Chinese character in the
xml-tagged document. Python complains that the Chinese character is an invalid
token, and thus not well-formed.
I tried using encoding="UTF-8" and encoding="UTF-16" and encoding="GB2312" and
encoding="GBK" in the xml-tagged chinese document. None of them helped.
