Antigay Testimony Swayed Md. Senator's Marriage Vote

appalling" testimony from the bill's opponents earlier this week.

今天上午和LD去Boston做了info pass。Officer是个白人小哥，人很nice。说case现在
的状态是pending review for final decision。我说不懂什么意思，他噼里啪啦的打
了一会键盘说帮我查FBI BC进度，说好多人都被卡在这步了。果不其然，BC没有clear(
俗名，但非党员)。很烦。。。
小哥说他也无能为力。FBI怎么工作的他也不清楚，不过目前的情况根据他的判断只要
是FBI clear了，case应该很快能被通过（有可能是在安慰我）。又借LD找工作急用绿
卡之由问了副卡情况。小哥查了下说副卡BC已经结束，但因为主卡没clear没法approve

Survey: 20 Md. Senators for Marriage Equality

definition of marriage but there are plenty more (on adoption, etc).
The fact Article 1 was approved by a relatively comfortable margin is a good
sign because there were worries the overall bill could fail in the Senate (

last word regardles) as the Left has a very very narrow majority in the

而更关键的是美国人有更多机会通过媒体了解3012的内容。平均来讲美国人是不太支持
的，nytimes报道3012过House之后trackitt马上就有烙印出来说，要尽力避免major
media报道这个法案，这会引起美国人的主意而引起反对。
另外Grassley的目的是往bill里加H1B reform的内容。一旦成功，这会导致即使过了
Senate也要跟House重新商量解决difference。这个事情是需要House领袖Eric Cantor
来组织的。但在3012 House投票那天，Cantor出现在了投票场，却对3012弃权没有投票
。由此看Cantor对于3012的态度很模糊，至少是没有明确支持。真到两院解决bill分歧
的时候，不知道Cantor会扮演什么角色。
感觉House过bill很容易，让人民有种自己被重视的民主感觉。而Senate才是头头脑脑

The chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee has set Nov. 3 as the start for
debate and a committee vote on legislation to repeal the Defense of Marriage
Act.
In a statement Tuesday, the office of Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) announced
the committee “will begin debate on legislation” starting Nov. 3. The
Vermont lawmaker previously pledged to hold a panel vote on the bill in
