我2008年刚来美国的时候，读的是一个教育方向的硕士，翻译成中文大概是人力资源教
育之类的。这个专业涉及理工科目极少，对专业背景要求低，是很多中老年美国人再进
修（混学位）的首选。因此我的同学中不乏退役老兵拿着GI Bill免费读书，企业中层
管理人员读个硕士回去升职，还有一种：就是下岗人员。（捂脸）
当时班上有一位大叔叫Bud，是一个因为煤矿关闭而被下岗的矿工大叔。因为被下岗了
