挖。不管什么SOIL，能出苗的就是好SOIL吧。排除孬种的可能，不出苗或出苗率不高的

't support the weight any more. The wolfberry in southern can handle soggy
soil better, but still, they prefer dryer soil.
You gotta keep in mind this thing comes from Gopi outskirts, where water is
scarce. |

其实不如top soil + composted manure，成本低，土质也不错
回头下苗的时候埋些激愤做底肥，追肥的时候根据个人喜好爱上化肥

To LZ, grass catcher is overrated. Doesn't do any good.
Leave the clippings on the lawn and save up to 25% on fertilizer! Hehe
If it's already dusty, soil is too dry. You better mow high. The whole idea

时间：初春
材料：大部分是园土，你没园子的话， 去买top soil, gardening soil whatever
soil 都可以，哗啦啦倒进缸子里面，离缸面大约手掌高低，然后混compost，我还是用
最简单的办法丢了一堆的烂树叶进去，最后全部混均匀了。开始， 灌水！然后肯定会
漂一大堆垃圾，没关系， 捞掉，扔了！

，光加酸是不够的。
外面卖的商业变色（酸性KIT）是包含铝离子的。

和很多这里的朋友一样，我也是在五区。这个区的特点是春秋季很短，冬天和夏天及其
的漫长。和南方农民当然是比不了，但是只要有优良的土壤，科学的方法和足够的耐心

有新朋友问到，家里的土壤太差，草皮下面就是很粘很结实的粘土和黄土，没法种菜怎
么办？我家当初也类似，翻开绿油油草皮，往下一铲大部分都是粘土。通过尝试各种方
法，经过两年多的改良，现在种菜的地方都是1尺到两尺深的肥沃的黑土。
其实方法很简单，这里是我的一些经验：
1. 从小做起，第一年不要大面积的开挖。量力而行其实很重要。我第一年就只开辟了
总共100尺的三片小菜地。现在第三年过去，不知不觉也有了400尺的优良菜地。
2. 初期投资肯定是要的。买个几十袋的premium garden soil和compost，大概1比1的

1) Don't use weed blocker, put 2 layer of carbon board under raised bed,
they will smother the grass under.
2) Don't use garden soil, it's going to be expensive. A 4x8 bed will
require 1 cubic yard soil, that's 27 bags. Go local compost facility to buy
compost in bulk. If you like, make some soil mix by yourself (google to
find receipt). |

如果买的树有root ball，挖的坑需要是root ball直径的两倍，而且略深。root ball
的上侧与地面平(也就是根一般在地面以下10-15cm左右)。如果你的soil层比较浅，你
需要把subsoil挖深一点，然后填些soil进去。埋根的时候一般是用potting mix+
original soil 50／50。最后在根周围1－2ft的距离建一道岭，这样水不会迅速流走，
一般最好还在岭的里面铺一层2-3"的mulch，保持水份。 |

长久的。
去年搬家的时候就盘算好了天气暖和娃大点就要实现自己一直的心愿，开地种菜。
前房主留下了两块地，由于长久没有种菜，都长满了杂草。今年春天天气一暖和我就忙
活着买土买肥料育苗了。等待种子发芽的同时我就赶紧整理废弃的菜园子，花了大概三
天晚饭后的时间，和我儿子一起把杂草给全拔了，然后翻地。不要小看这活，我这里的
土是clay soil,异常坚硬，拔起来非常的费劲，最后在铁锹和LD的帮助下才完成任务。
由于菜园子很长时间没人照顾，杂草横生，土质早就没有养分不适合种菜了，我又马不
停蹄的从lowes搬了一包garden soil,一包compost，还多方查询，从本地苗圃整了一包
mushroom soil来改善土质。这前前后后加起来有100来磅的东西，我搬不动啊，就用小
花盆一盆一盆的装满了再运到菜园子里，个中的辛苦就不说了。
有付出就有收获，后来下地的各种蔬菜都长的欣欣向荣，辣椒番茄毛豆都开始量产（当
然没法和牛牛们比，供自家吃还勉勉强强），现在每天吃过晚饭的例行活动就是在后院
视察菜园子。

compaction over time. Directly burying organic matter into soil does it
faster. However, just spraying diluted water brewed from organic matters
may not help too much for compaction, although it might have small amount of
nutrients and beneficial micro-organisms that are overall good for the soil
and lawn. |

大概50-75c的样子。一个flat可以装36棵苗。
另外自己做的potting soil质量有保障，店里的potting soil一般
就是用peat moss和珍珠岩，这个东西一旦干了，就需要很大力气
才能湿润。这个potting soi用的是椰子纤维，这个东西亲水性好，
而且保湿能力强 |

After removing husks, rinse nuts in water. Discard nuts that float; nuts

是另外一个牌子的Garden Soil 5 for $10，网评不是很高。因为急需还是买了10袋。
这周看到MiracleGro 1-cu ft Flower and Vegetable Garden Soil 5 for $10。又买
了10袋。看来春天是买土和费的好时节啊。希望大家都能如愿。不过我觉得还要持续
compost,光靠这种garden soils肥力还是不可以持续的吧。 |

我家是的草坪是从一片崭新的建筑用土基础上种出来的。当时买房的时候根本没意识到
处理院子是多么巨大的一个工程，以为建筑商说会帮我们种草就万事大吉了。结果后来
才意识到建筑商根本就是乱来，在一片一毛不生的黄土地上直接翻土种草，而且有的地
方连翻都没翻，直接把种子洒在一堆石头上面，而且一直拖到5月份才把种子播下去，
东海岸的5月已经很热了，而且由于今年特别旱，结果草没长出来多少。
此后的几个月，我们就每天看到杂草蹭蹭的冒出来，到现在已经变成满地都是螃蟹草，
而且是几个品种的螃蟹草的程度了。我于是找人重新做草坪，现在有收到两家公司的报
价和意见，请大神们帮我看看哪种是可行的：
我家院子大概7000ft 左右。
1.第一家，很贵的报价，差不多要6000，说是要把杂草全除掉，石头渣渣都去掉，翻土
，铺top soil (40 yard),种草，养护。。。
2.第二家，出乎意料的便宜，1500铺大概25 yard的top soil, 除石头，种草，养护另

Planting
Plant dormant, bare-root grape vines in the early spring.
Construct a trellis or arbor before planting. Grape vines will need to
be trained to some sort of support to grow upward. This will also cut the
risk of disease.
Most grape varieties are self-fertile. To be sure, ask when you are
buying vines if you will need more than one plant to for pollination.
Before planting grapevines, soak their roots in water for two or three
hours.

1）为防止杂草从地里长出来，在bed里面放土以前应该铺上一层什么东西来block呢？
2）打算自己mix土 一半top soil和一半compost行吗？top soil是不是太差，garden
soil好些？
3）还要研究怎样在bed的一部分搭简单的trellis 如果有好主意推荐万分感谢！或者有
不太贵的买现成的也行，动手能力有待锻炼....
梦想能种出花和菜并存的漂亮菜园....

懒了，我不想用人家的音乐，Youtube可能会认为你倾权，自己也想提高编曲能力，不
过这可真不容易，音乐也比较粗糙，但毕竟是自己的原创，还在学习中。
视频里有几十张菊花的照片，分别为2010年，2015年和今年的2016年. Mums可能是最便
宜的菊花了，刚搬到这儿就有了白色和金黄色两棵，自己又去买了三棵其他颜色，头两
年开得不错，后来自己买的那三棵先没了，也不知什么原因。可能是太拥挤，抢不过本
来的两棵，原本两棵也缩小了，前些年旁边都没种东西，有点空荡荡的，所以今年把番
茄种在了旁边，没想到番茄发了疯似的长，占了菊花的地盘，今年的菊花开得最差了，
于是才想起上网查原因，原来我都没好好管理菊花，视频后面列了自己总结的tip，也
解答了我今年菊花开得不好的困惑。
下面3张照片都是十月份拍的，很大的差别。
2010年十月白菊花越长越大，一大圈。
去年十月的金黄菊花开得多好。
今年十月的金黄菊花开得稀稀拉啦的。很大原因可能是番茄抢了阳光抢了土地。

都是买的Costco 的potting soil,盆栽都是用它了。一般的换盆是就添点potting soil
就好了，刚买回来的盆栽也不需要上任何肥的。等它适应了长半年多再稍加的复合肥
之类的视什么植物而定。这种大叶子的植物，买回来直接弄个套盆一放就好啦！你这个
看来像是烧着了或水太多了，不好说怎么弄才能救过来，如果那个什么miracle gro 烧
根，需要换普通potting soil 吧。 |
