Most working Americans believe their workplace is free of gender
discrimination and don’t know anyone who’s been a victim of it. But women
continue to be more skeptical than men.
Nineteen percent (19%) of all employed Americans say they personally know
someone who has been denied a job, a promotion or increased pay because of
their gender, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey

其实现在的职场已经尊重了基督教的信仰要求,例如星期天不上班。那么其他的宗教信
仰要求是否应该也尊重?例如让犹太教在 Sabbath 期间不上班(不 on call 或加班)
?是否应该在公司食堂提供 kosher 食物?当然回教徒的麻烦就更多了:没有猪肉的食
堂、一天五次祈祷、戴头巾等等。当然不要忘了佛教徒的素食,公司食堂要不要提供素
食或者奶蛋素?哦,还有印度教,公司食堂要提供没有牛肉的菜单!又或者要穿制服的
公司,要不要提供犹太教徒不用两种植物纤维制成的制服?
真要通通符合这些东西,还要不要开公司?但如果你可以因为基督教信仰而星期日不上
班,甚至圣诞节放假,为什么不尊重其他信仰要求?
为什么圣诞节是国定假期?美国又没有国教。那么佛诞节呢?为何不放假?如果回教徒
可以一天祈祷五次,佛教徒一年放个佛诞节算什么?
这不是人数问题,就算是人数问题,尊重少数不是民主精神?你可以尊重少数在公司里
搞幼儿园哺乳室,为何不可以设个祈祷室、小教堂、小佛堂?
Workplace 是否应该尊重员工的信仰要求?问题是 Where does it stop?

Mass shooting reported at Fresno workplace

Multiple people have been shot at a Fresno, Calif. chicken production plant,
according to a number of news reports.

KMPH-TV reports the shooting took place about 8:30 a.m. at Apple Valley
Farms, which produces various chicken meat products.

How can I decide whether a joke or comment is appropriate for the workplace?
A: Ask yourself: would you allow someone to tell the same joke or comment to
your spouse or your mother? Would you make the same comment to a colleague
of the other gender? Would you make the joke or comment in front of your
spouse or parents? If not, you definitely shouldn't share it at work

首先,很多人不原意承认自己被bully.那不就是承认自己弱吗?
其次,咱们中国人总是严于律已,被bully了,可能还想着先三省吾身一下:是不是自己没
有做好在先,才招人不待见了.
再有,Workplace bullying经常是很隐蔽的,bully不会蠢到给你轻易留下证据交给HR.
最后,不用过度敏感,但也要知道这方面的常识来保护自己.
要不是新招的小姑娘一语道破,我也没想到,哦,那就是bully.这个bully是个白男Sr.
manager,对自己的手下曾经当众辱骂嘲讽.我不是他手下,他有次在多人电话会议跟我发
私信骂我的头儿说胡话,我替我的头儿解释了一下,以后他就常常挑我的错了.说我固执,
给我扣个"爱搞阴谋论"的大帽子,说我不象中国女人(我在其他帖子见过一样的事情!);
还说他父亲管教他们几个小孩的时候,可不象他如今管教员工一样耐心,他父亲直接解皮
带抽人.我笑说,now I know what your parent had done to you.有次我不同意他的一
个观点,他说"天啊,跟你共事这么久,不知道你是个两面派!"我说你再观察观察,不只两

主观意愿因你的种族,性别等骚扰你,而是受害人的感受,只要你觉得offended by
his words/acts,你可以,1,通知HR,公司应当有anti-harassment policy,HR
有义务员工提供有关培训并说明员工的义务和权利。可以先联系HR让他们出面解决,2
,起诉racial discrimination。如果他说话时有证人当然好,不过你的回忆和证词也
是有效的。很多州不允许对方不知情而录音录像作为呈堂证供,但给HR作证据应该可

Don't mislead others.
If you think that U.S. personal rights entitle you to workplace privacy,
think again. Your employer can get away with denying you workplace privacy,
partly because your employer owns the phone on which you talk, the desk in
which you store your stuffs and the building in which you roam. It's more so
because so-called "employee workplace privacy rights laws" are few and weak.

从网上找到此文,如此触目惊心。美国的老板大概50%以上都是以欺压员工为乐的恶人!
女老板和男老板各占一半。文章告诫和老板斗几乎没有成功的可能。 人事部门也不会
帮员工,因为人事部门的职责是保护公司不受到法律纠纷的困扰。
84% 被老板欺负的员工是女性,这些人一旦被盯上82% 失去工作。
这些调研机构也给不出好的办法保护员工,也是告诫碰上这种恶人,或者走人,或者把
工作做好忍受,尽量避免被恶人盯上。

Another thing, if you are working, you might want to check with your
workplace whether they have some scheme which might pay for certain amount
for your bike and cycling gears.
In UK, there is a government run program called cycle2work scheme. If a
workplace joined the scheme, you can get a bike and gears under £1000. In
