Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. It measures the pressure
in the intake manifold, which is a good indication of
engine load. A MAP failure can cause engine failure for
sure, as that's the most important sensor reading for the
computer to determine the fuel injection pulse and
timing advance.
I'm not positive, but I think you do have to take off the
intake manifold to replace it. Quite a bit of work. But
I have no idea how much those crooks at the repair shop
would charge you for that. $300 ma |
