Though 3D printing rapidly produces 3-dimensional objects, including
microstructures, from diverse materials by applying layers and bonding them
with UV radiation, this advanced technology is still too imprecise to
generate ultra-fine, complex capillary vessels, so the researchers developed
a two-photon polymerization process, where intense, brief, highly focused
laser pulses strike the material, stimulating a crosslinking between
molecules, and the material becomes elastic and solid at once, according to
their separate qualities.
