Media
As we reported earlier, anti-immigration groups of NumbersUSA and FAIR
have been pumpting up their campaign to kill these bills in the media. It
also appears some House members that support other ethnic groups are also
arising to have their voices heard. These bills thus face opposition from
union backers (Sen. Grassley) based on alleged stance of protection of
American workers and ethnic groups that will be negatively affected by these
bills based on their arguments that these bills discriminate certain
ethinic groups in favor of certain other ethnic groups. It is odd that both
H.R. 3012 bill supporters and opponents of the same bill argue ethnic
discmination theory in support of their positions. The sad reality and
consequence of these internal conflics within the immigration community
eventually achieve nothing but strengthening the anti-immigrant forces.
There could have been a better way to handle the advocacy and compromise
within the immigrant community. Read on. |
