年前跳槽到另一大学作 Full Professor。导师很好。关系不错。
昨天突发奇想，给导师发信要求加入一家杂志的Reveiwer bank，（他是Associate
Eidtor）。今天早上收到另一家杂志的邀请审稿，心情激动之下转发到导师，表示我还
是有一些审稿经验的。加上同时我们也正在准备投该杂志一篇文章，所以想问一下是否
有冲突。
一个小时后正式接受审稿邀请，得到文稿，定睛一看，投稿者是AP，和导师现在在同一
个系。文章的内容和导师的研究范围非常接近，可以说是重合 （这也是为什么我得到
审稿邀请的原因吧）。
怎么事情都这么巧呢？ 估计导师那里也比较尴尬。（转发的邮件中有作者名字。我对
他是一无所知，但导师肯定知道）。如果知道作者是在同一个系，我肯定就不转发导师
了。
现在该怎么办？是给导师解释一下呢，还是装作不知道？ 多谢 |

1, being a review is very normal, no need to excited
2, maybe your advisor suggested the editor assistant to assign this paper to
you
3. must talk with you advisor about this, in particular ask his opinion
about this work. If he likes it, apporve it with major revision; if not,
kill it
this is why your advisor 放你這顆小棋子在那.
if you pretend nothing happen, your advisor would feel 小孩子還是楞啊, in
future would not invite you to be part of his game. |

Thank you for your suggestion.
Are you saying I got this review opportunity probably because of my advisor'
s recommendation? If that is the case, I should talk to and thank him.
However, I am not convinced. I just told (email) him yesterday that I want
reviewing experience, and he has not replied yet. I got this review
invitation early this morning.
Besides, the journal is not the one he works as an associate editor.
Interesting, the author suggested several reviewers, of which the first on

Yes. Authors are encouraged to suggest reviewers. This paper suggested four
reviewers that includes my Da Shi Xiong, but not my advisor.

The editor sent me a link to download the manuscript draft, which includes a
cover letter and the paper.
The cover letter says everything.

我还曾经拒绝过我导师当主编的杂志邀请的审稿. 结果导师专门又找我一次,
这次只好接了. 我拒绝的原因是我认识那个人, 但导师说, 要是就因为认识就
不审, 那就没法审了, 这个圈子这么小, 谁不认识谁啊?
不过这个认识也不是一般的认识, 我们原来在国内一个系的, 差两届而已.
结果是我让他改了一次就建议接受了. 意见写了两大页, 但没有大的改动.

哦， 好象大家都觉得这个机会是我导师推荐的是吧？
可能性很大，但是我还是不能完全确信。
１，导师不是这个杂志的编辑；
２，昨天下午刚和他提过，今天早上就来了邀请。是从杂志来的。
３，导师并不在作者建议的审稿者名单中。
导师是这个领域的中牛吧，江湖地位比那篇文章的作者要强不少。

发帖数: 165 | 12 It's very obvious that it's your Da Shi Xiong who recommended you. The
editor should have asked him first as a reviewer, but it seems that he is
too busy and recommends you as an alternative. This is very normal in the
reviewing assignment process.

it's important for GC application. I reviewed one top-journal paper when I
was a PhD student. That experience made me pass the GC I-140 step easily.

There are some moderate errors in calculations in this paper. I guess either
'major revision' or 'reject' is OK.
I did not directly ask for my advisor's opinion but rather whether he knows
this paper and recommends me. Here is his reply:
' Yes,I suggested this for you as they asked me but I have a conflict so I
sent Thomas (the editor) your name. Glad it was OK.'
'Thomas is quite famous guy in this field'
So, shall I reject or request a major revision? Thanks
