is not too bad, you will be fine.
Since you are asking, your relative probably does not fall into that
category.:)

problem getting his tenure. So do you think it would be OK to hire a
relative as a RA student? Should the junior faculty talk to the department
chair before doing this? Any unexpected negative effects?

大家也就算了.
我还认识一个教授娶了自己的博士生的. 那个博士生三年毕业拿学位,
还拿了优秀博士论文. 如果要认真追究, 这个教授绝对是应该走人的.
不过没有人管就是了.

constitute a bar to hiring, promotion or reappointment,
provided, that no employee shall be under the direct or indirect supervision

发帖数: 165 | 14 In theory, any RAP and student RA are paid by the university. But I do know
this RAP's salary are from her husband's research grants (although it's paid
through the univ.) . Bottom line, she is supervised by her husband (working
in his research group).
