it, you should not take in the student. Otherwise, that faculty would hate
you and get back sooner or latter |

发帖数: 2293 | 3 你最好先跟这学生说，你想跟他去年的教授谈谈他的strengths and weaknesses，看看跟你的研究方向、做事风格是否match，然后再做决定，问他介不介意。
接纳学生多少要screen一下。另外，这学生找你也可能还只是个试探，这个阶段他未必想让别人知道，尤其是去年还跟着做的老板。
还有一个选择就是直接找个借口婉拒了，最简单。 |

I can tell you that it did not amount to much, because I was unable to get
concrete data for my research area and the literature was not strong enough
to support a real research effort.
The only thing he and I did was discuss the topic and he gave some direction
on how to begin and think about the research topic that I was proposing.

a. the student did not do anything for the faculty. If he was paid by that
faculty in last year, you can imagine how that faculty would feel once he
knows that you accept this student
b. this student does not have good communication skills or is too lazy to be
effective
even you need student, stealing others' student is not a wise thing to do |
