In addition, faculty candidates under review are discouraged from
approaching committee members at any time concerning the disposition of their review and should understand that inquiries of this type are deemed entirely inappropriate.
it doesn't say anything about whether you could approach committee members 'before' you submit your dossier, though.
my committee members and dept head have been given me casual hints, but i've avoided talking to them about this formally.

最好的劝退时间。但私下里面一对一没有人愿意，尤其是borderline上的，这个交流
是可能会引来杀身之祸的。
