I am on a search committee this year, due to the huge number of applications
, no committee memeber carefully read the statements! we just look at the "
Research Interest" in CV, if the direction does not match, we will put it
aside; if the direction matches, we look at the publications ....
So, I guess as long as your statements are not bad, you do not need to spend
too much time on that.
