process http://www.aacsb.edu/, so there is a demand for PhD graduates from AACSB accredited business schools.
A common problem is that some school leaders do not behave in a professional
manner.
For example, they make an offer, but once the newly minted PhDs come back,
the school will not completely honor what written in their offer letter.
Common examples include but are not limited to:
1.increase the number of students supervised;
2.decrease the amount of cash allowance written in the offer letter;
3.do not (timely) reimburse faculty research expenditure;
4.request faculty to perform certain so called "service" activities, which
are not expected in the Western society.
5.take negative means to retain faculty rather than build a better working
environment
For the above reasons, the turnover rate at the business schools is pretty
high. For example, according to a faculty familiar with the AACSB process,
Peking University HSBC business school recruits at least 10 faculty members
every year. Some faculty only spent one semester there then left.
It's good to visit and gain some global experience at the emerging markets,
but it's not a good place to seriously focus on your research and teaching. | t****h
