usually, the rejection letter is sent automatically by HR. In that case, no
need to respond.
However, if you interviewed there as one of the finalists, and they picked
another person over you and emailed you to let you know, I think you should
definitely respond, and do so graciously. You can even reiterate that you
really like the department and thank them for the interview and their
hospitality, etc.
This has happened to me twice, and every time, they ended up creating an
additional position for me. :) | w*******a
