appointment letter（PDF形式），我对内容有一点疑问，来请教大家。appointment
letter是dean签发的，扫描件。
I am pleased to formally offer you the position of Assistant Professor in
xxx at xxx University. ... Your initial 4 year faculty appointment will
begin August 6, 2017. Your first contract renewal is scheduled to take place
during the Winter 2020 semester. Additional contract renewal and/or a
Tenure review will be scheduled in the future based on the outcome of the
first Contract Renewal. 然后下面就是工资什么的了。
我知道新AP一般都是一开始先签3年或者4年的合同，这点我没疑问。可是我没看见
appointment letter里面有tenure-track的字样，只有“Additional contract
renewal and/or a Tenure review will be scheduled in the future based on the
outcome of the first contract Renewal.”这一句话。这是否能说明就是tenure-
track的职位呢？在学校职位招聘的HR网站上面，还有面试的时候系主任都明确说了是
tenure-track，（不然我也不会申请了），我想学校应该不会故意坑我吧。PDF里面，
后面还有一句说，“You are not asking for nor will be granted any years
credit towards tenure or sabbatical.”我明白这句话意思，作为fresh PhD，肯定
没有tenure的credit。只是这句话能不能侧面说明该职位就是tenure-track的呢？
我把这个appointment letter给现在的导师看了，他说没问题，就是tenure-track。我
还是有点不放心，所以来问问大家怎么看。
还有我知道未来一段时间，应该还有正式的纸质合同会寄过来让我签字。现在的这个
PDF是HR发邮件给我，让我在学校HR的网站上面我申请这个职位的账户里面找到的。PDF
下面没有让我签字接受的一栏，只是让我点击网站上面“I accept”按钮。我已经点击
了。HR邮件里面也说该PDF只是“which outlines the terms and conditions of your
employment”。所以我想问一下大家，最终纸质合同是不是应该更具体更详细一些，
有可能会把tenure-track的字样明确写出来呢？（现在这个PDF没有写关于benefits信
息的内容）。我一个当了几年AP的朋友说他当年收到的PDF就是正式纸质合同的简略版
本。
我发邮件问系主任，他不回，有点郁闷。感谢大家帮助！ |

这个合同就是tenure-track的合同。就是中期review过了后，才给续签。

发帖数: 76 | 4 看到你的帖子，我也看了看我的非正式offer letter，我的是这样写的：
1. Post: Assistant Professor (Academic Staff at Job Band A2)
2. Terms of Appointment: 3-year fixed term gratuity-bearing contract
3. Contract Period/Duration of Appointment: Your appointment shall become
effective from 27 February 2017 to 30 June 2020 inclusive of leave.
后面就一些salary，benifit，housing allowance之类的，都没有说tenure-track的问
题呢。。我现在也怀疑不知道有没有什么问题。。。。不过回过头来想，应该默认是
tenure-track的offer吧，因为onsite 的时候有问拿tenure的条件。。。。 |

今天和Dean's assistant 联系了，说了之前关于tenure track的疑虑，之后Dean's
assistant很爽快的给我发了一个合同的addendum, 里面明确澄清了这个位置是tenure-
track。
