官司A&M赢的把握不大，
A&M只不过是很晚才注册了商标而已，所以才settle这么低的数目：

People need to understand A&M did not have a slam dunk case against Seattle
in 2006
Seattle’s use of the 12th man pre-dated the Aggies trademark, (in 1984 they
retired the number 12 in honor of the 12th man, A&M trademarked the term in
1990). Seattle had been using the term for over 20 years before A&M’s
first C&D attempt, and neither Seattle nor Texas A&M can claim to be the one
that initially coined the phrase (Wikipedia suggests the first reference
was Iowa, but it could have just as likely been first used in European
association futbal as the term is so widely used now by so many clubs in
reference to their fans). The fact that Seattle’s use of 12th man is very
different than Texas A&M’s tradition of the student body standing and being
ready if called upon, only helps Seattle differentiate its use and
tradition from that of A&M. In 2006, there was a very real possibility of A&
M spending $100k’s of legal fees, only to lose in court. I know many on
here are surprised by the low dollar amount, but getting Seattle to
acknowledge the trademark was the victory. Now you’ve got two distinct
traditions, one over 90 years, the other over 30 years. A&M maintains the
trademark, Seattle pays for (some of) the administrative/legal costs of
maintaining that trademark.
