LZ claims that her J visa expires in Jan, and I don't know what status she
is exactly in now before J expires. After that, she is in AOS for sure.
I know that for green card applications, they have to do J waiver. Does that
waiver mean that they are no longer J after waiver?

the approved J waiver.
What I mean is J1 is NOT compatible with 485. You can only choose one.

发帖数: 6523 | 8 Okay, I see. It's similar to that F visa holder applies for green card.
It's theoretically not compatible with F or J, but before F or J expires,
the F or J may be still in effect in practice, although risky.
F is even riskier than J, as F may not be renewed or the OPT may not be
granted, but J can be renewed.
