Groupon Getaways is reinventing the way people
discover, plan and experience travel. Launched in July 2011, the
Getaways product is rapidly growing in scope, features and
functionality and our suitcase-toting team is dedicated to building
the best travel offering for our customers. We’re also building a
rock star team that is not only delivering, but also having fun
doing so.
As part of this effort we have several foundational
projects underway and more coming, to significantly improve and
enhance our travel offering. You get the chance to join in at the
early stages, work on v1 products, and materially shape the travel
product and team.
As a back-end Software Development Engineer (SDE), you
will be responsible for developing back-end travel services that
support Groupon’s global travel sites and mobile application. Using
services oriented architecture (SOA) you will architect and build
for scale, performance and reliability. You will understand how the
end-to-end e-commerce stack for travel works and how to how your
service needs to fit and integrate in supporting customer-driven
scenarios.
To qualify for this role we are looking for a person with:
• B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Math, Physics
or equivalent
• 10+ years software engineering in Java, C++ or C#
(depending on level)
• Creative problem solving skills
• High energy, a passion for software and ability to
work with a close team
• The ability to both code and architect excellent code
• Online Travel experience is a major plus
• Experience with Rest API or other service approach
• Experience with Ruby, GitHub and Unix development a
plus
• Passion for travel is a definite plus
• Startup experience is a plus | e********g
