- DEV are on call for SRE, best effort SLA, so far I only got daily pagers (

other DEV teams, which they will not get extra pay and we will.
- Extra on-call bonus (compat pay) can be as many as 9 days/quater, which
means 15%, or you can use them in the following quarter as vacation.
- The first two years you can enroll into SRE Mission Control Program, which
means if you are on-call, from April to Sep, you will get 20% bonus instead
, which means the first two years, your on-call bonus will be 17.5%/year.
- A lot of travel if you like. If you want, you can travel quarterly to
Dublin, Ireland. You can travel yearly to Zurich, Stockholm, New York,
Boston, London, if you work with customers there closely.
- We pay attention to team building. Last year we had 2 offsites, one was
houseboating on Shasta Lake, the other one was Las Vegas trip. This year we
will go Maui, Hawaii.
- If we like, we have fast-track pass to get hired by FB. We closely work
with Twitter and LinkedIn.
We do have strict bars as we are DEV in SRE org. The pass rate is 1/4 of
Google Tech general.
Fresh grads are OK. We just hired 2 college graduates from mid-rank colleges
. My ex-boss's ex-boss, who gave champaign talk to recruit me, has math
degree from a south California college. (He is the one worked with US CTO
and finally made healthcar.gov worked at the end of year 2013, and was on
the cover of Time magazine because of this ). A my ex-
teammate senior engineer has math degree from Russia.

interview. Usually we are interviewed as general hire then go through SRE
pipeline.
System Engineer, SE-SRE has to be converted to SWE first (which
needs coding interviews). Same with Admin/DBA.
