We are looking for highly motivated individuals in the area of JVM
technologies and performance analysis. The lab focuses on programming
technology innovations including programming models, compilers and language
VM, and programming tools.
In particular, we are looking for candidates with strong expertise in JVM
technologies and/or in whole-system performance analysis. The position
offers a rare opportunity to influence the design of hardware and software
that are used by millions of people. You will be working with the
architecture designers, system engineers, application developers and
customers to design the worlda€™s leading system and incorporating
advanced techniques into real products.
The skills we are looking for include but not limited to:
JVM technologies (e.g., JIT, GC, and other VM technologies)
JVM technologies for embedded systems
Performance analysis/tuning of complex software stack and of hardware
bottlenecks
PRIMARY DUTY & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical leadership to engineering teams across multiple
geological locations
- Improve the performance of Java workloads via JVM enhancement and tuning
- Propose and develop new JVM technologies for embedded, enterprise, and big
data workloads
- Conduct performance analysis and develop tools to diagnose JVM bottlenecks
on x86/arm
- Contribute to open-source JVM communities
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Master in Computer Science is required, Ph.D preferred
- 5+ years of experience in the area of JVM technologies and/or performance
analysis
- Familiarity with performance analysis methodology & tools required,
knowledge in computer architecture preferred
- Proven track record in contribution to open-source community (especially
OpenJDK) preferred
- Past research experience and academic publications in the JVM area
preferred
- Strong hands-on and system building skill
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
The person we are looking for is relatively senior, who can lead a small
team of engineers.
