the Black Sea a lot, musically speaking, where I came across Cem
Adrian, a Turkish singer/song writer with a truly unique voice.
According to Wikipedia, "he is known for his ability to sing from
bass to soprano, as his vocal cords are three times the length of an
average person's." Talk about a special gift from God, Allah, or
whomever!

Also, amazed that your musical exploration has expanded into Turkey.
We discussed a little bit about Greek music before, but I still have a hard
time to figure out how ancient Greek culture and its orthodox religious
tradition influenced its music....
Turkey, although bordered with Greece, is a complete different territory, a
country celebrating East and West civilization, a place mixed with Muslim
and Christian culture heritage.
I feel thrilled to take a peek on Turkey music through your detailed,
thoughtful narrative.

where my heart and soul have been over the past 20 years or so, and
the Middle East has always been on the radar screen. Unfortunately, I
know very little about the Middle Eastern musical tradition. Nonetheless,
the dazzling array of different rhythms and the seemingly infinite divisions
of the musical notes in Middle Eastern music is absolutely fascinating even
for a musical layman like me. As I always say, I really don't know much
about music, but I sure as heck know what I like.

天，挺失落的。老头变成投生的小孩又很好玩，哈哈。你有没有看过一个叫《tulpan》
的纪录片故事？讲哈萨克斯坦的。里面的小女孩和妈妈都很爱唱歌，很自然淳朴，不过
不很专业。唱得更好的是《story of a weeping camel》那个纪录片，蒙古长调+马头
琴很动人。《tulpan》里面哈萨克草原上流行的歌居然是boney m的rivers of babylon
，是国内八十年代流行过的，我写帖子贴过：

其实那个和一般裙子还不一样
有说是因为吸引观众喜欢这项目
有说是传统
有说为了方便，也许还有安全因素
倒是看到一个讨论说男人也可以穿裙子打比赛，还有什么同性恋才不穿裙子
