keep calling your city hall to find out. Another way is to talk to all your
neighbors. They might know the local codes, or more importantly, how
supportive they are.
You are in CA, behind the enemy line in the battle between straight vs. gays

live among gays and other perverts like Laosan, Huan or Costco :) If one of
your neighbors is a tree hugger, it doesn't matter what's the local codes,

一定要参考同一个city砍过类似大树的同学。其他如果不住同一个地方的，其实也没有
什么太大参考意义。
我也在CA,砍树的经验是需要市政府相关人员的签字，而且需要合理的原因。
