from my research on previous posts it seems the only ways are:
1. rout the vent pipe through top portions of the kitchen cabinets, which
will take some cabinets room...
2. rout the vent pipe on top the cabinets and add some dry wall to cover it.
which seems having more installation work and may impact house value ?
..
is it possible to hide the vent pipes into the ceiling ?? does anyone know
usually how much space between the ceiling and the upper floor ? can some
expert share some experience...thx |

cause the range hood much less effective.

我十多年前买房时把去过的builder的sales都调侃了一番，大意是你们这抽气搞室内循
环是不是怕邻居占便宜闻你们家的香味。各个sales均表示不好意思。一两年后我们那
个区几乎所有builder都offer直接抽到外面。

I guess we need to demolish portions of the ceiling, and install the vent
pipe and then reinstall back the ceiling ? is it a lot of work ? is it
possible to DIY ? thanks !

蜂买房（当然大部分都买同一地区），builder一看不得了，就从了。

yes. its normal case for island mounted range hood. any contractor should be
able to do it. its pretty simple. one hole in ceiling and another one in
outside wall. no need to demolish anything. My contractor did the whole
thing in 6 hours.
btw I installed 山寨神气 36“ island mounted range hood.

i paid $500 including drilling 2 holes, intalling 油烟机 and repainting the
whole kitchen.

cabinet拆掉装rangehood ,直接通室外了。 工程最小了。
煎炒用小cooktop. 现在的range cooktop 用来做简单的菜。
如果房屋结构不允许在房顶打洞，ceiling里也不好走管道。
这个就是个feasible option.
