Now you know the difference between pre-emergent and post-emergent. Halts
is a typical pre-emergent, and it has no post-emergent function, that's why
it won't kill grown crabgrass. In fact, the 'weed and feed' product in this
case is feeding the crabgrass instead of killing it.
What you need is a crabgrass post-emergent. You can try products with '
crabgrass killer' in the label. Really you should just make sure the active
ingredient 'quinclorac' is included and you really don't need to care about
the brand (you can even search it on amazon). As always, read the labels
carefully before application. For mature crabgrass, sometimes multiple
applications with a few weeks in-between may be needed.
Of course, hand pulling is best if that's feasible. |
