your title is misleading. what you really wanted to know is the current
capacity of a single outlet, not the current capacity of the entire house.
if you want to find out, go to your breaker panel, checkout the wires coming
out of the panel, you should be able to see the gauge number on the wire,
then you can look up for the max ampacity from this table:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge#Tables_of_AWG_
for example, if it says 12/2 WG, that means it is a 12 gauge wire, from the
above table, the lowest ampacity is 20A.
If properly wired, a typical power outlet supports 15A max current . A 20A
outlet looks like this:
the full ampacity of your house can be found in your main circuit breaker.
It is limited by the master breaker (on the top) capacity, typically 100A/
150A/200A.
