saying he now believes that the U.S. Constitution requires states to allow
gay and lesbian couples to marry.
"Ultimately, I think the Equal Protection Clause does guarantee same-sex
marriage in all fifty states," Obama told the New Yorker's Jeffrey Toobin,
referring to language in the 14th Amendment requiring that states have valid
reasons for discriminating between citizens. |
