After this little discussion I am sure you will want to find out which
credit cards offer primary rental card CDW coverage. Most credit cards only
offer secondary coverage and only very few offer primary.
Diners Club Cards (currently not offered to new customers): These have
been the go-to cards for primary rental car coverage for a long time. The
cheapest one has a $95 annual fee and comes with many other benefits such as
the ability to transfer points to frequent flyer miles.
Citi Professional Card (currently not offered to new customers): Citi
pulled this card off its website sometime in 2011. It has no annual fees.
However since it is a hybrid personal and business card, whether or not your
personal use of rental car is covered has never been clear.
Currently available credit cards with primary rental car coverage are
listed bellow with the annual fees noted.
Chase Continental OnePass Plus ($85)
Chase Continental Presidential Plus ($375)
Chase United Mileage Plus Explorer ($95)
J.P. Morgan Select ($95)
J.P. Morgan Ritz-Carlton Card ($395)
Discover Escape ($60)
We definitely wish that more cards will come with this great benefit in the
future.
