With the exception of kicking plays, quarterbacks touch
the ball on every offensive play. A quarterback's job
is to operate and guide the offense efficiently. The
quarterback's goal is to direct his team toward the end
zone and score as many points as possible.
The quarterback (QB) is the player directly behind the
center receiving ball, as shown in the following figure.
He is the player who announces the plays in the huddle.
