For the second straight year, Stanford athletic director Bob Bowlsby has
been forced to deal with rumors attaching Jim Harbaugh‘s name to various
vacancies. Or, to potential vacancies as the case may be.
Earlier this month, Bowlsby stated that the school has “a proposal in front
of Jim and he’s indicated he plans to accept it.”
Apparently, somebody failed to inform Harbaugh of the latter part of the
equation. And the former part as well.
After telling Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News “I haven’t even
discussed” the contract with his boss, Harbaugh was told about Bowlsby’s
comments that the coach plans to accept it.
“Maybe he misspoke,” Harbaugh said. |

Michigan willing to pay for a coach with only 4 years of Division I coaching
experience and 2 winning seasons? Rich Rod is only being paid $2.6M a year

be enough to make JH move. besides, what's another 0.5M/year to michigan?
consider all the lux boxes it'll sell if JH turns the school around.

Besides, how many people would choose living in Michigan

it's the major factor here. compared to a NFL move.

and michigan is not just another school, it's his alma mater. and a much mor
e reputable football school which should/could be a much
better springboard to the NFL which should be his ultimate goal

replacing a single player is still a lot easier than replacing an entire
team (starters and backups) that were recruited for the spread option
with players that fit a pro-style offense.
If Harbaugh ultimately wants to go to the NFL, it doesn't make sense
for him to go to Michigan and spend 3-4 years rebuilding.
The Michigan position would be a job for life, not a springboard to
anything. Going from Stanford to the NFL is not that difficult, both
Bill Walsh and Dennis Green made that jump and those guys didn't
do nearly as good a job at Stanford as Harbaugh did.
I think Harbaugh will either stay at Stanford or go to the NFL, there is
very little chance for him to end up in Michigan.

If it were you, would you give up a job that you've been doing well in and
move your family from California to Michigan just to start all over again
for the same amount of money?
The NFL was brought up by brmj, I was just responding to him.

their culture. michigan may become one however. i think the
choice is easy but that's just me of course.

动力的地方。
好比大家工作，自己开startup很多时候还不如工作赚的多，为什么大家
都愿意去？

在Stanford 赢一场赚一场，爽歪歪，输一场，也没什么压力。况且现在区里 USC down
了，扬名
立万只在眼前。去 UM 输一场被骂一场，压力大大的。如果工资不够补偿压力的话，去
干嘛？

就是喜欢收拾大烂摊子, 哪个队最烂他往哪跑,
甚么钱啊, 舒适啊, 天气啊, 对我们芸芸众生管用, 但根本不在他考虑之列,
只有最大的挑战才能吸引他.
而一旦把局面扭转了, 他就走人, 也不在意下一任新教练上来摘逃子.
他去清理下一个破烂照样干得津津有味.
哈波也是这么个super competitive的人,
所以上面说的这么多, 只有去NFL是唯一有根据的理由, 那是最大的挑战.
