到底是怎么回事？几岁上什么学？要是公立的，都是免费么？

Daycar:e 6 wk - 5 yr. Privately-owned. Starting from 3 they may also name
the corresponding classes as "Preschool", "Pre-K" etc. Their operation hours
are usually the longest (before 8 am and after 5 pm) but you may choose to
send kids there part-time. And most daycare centers open M-F for the whole
year except for a few major holidays.
Preschool: mostly starting from 3 and private. There are some public
preschool (Pre-K) for 4 yr old (free of charge). Some only accept kids from
low-income families. They may operate full-day or half-day. Some full-day
programs end early in the afternoon but in many cases there are afterschool
care programs. Some preschools follow the calendar of local public school
system - which means they are closed for more days.
Kindergarten starts from 5. Public elementary schools include K classes. Of
course there are options for private K (and older). No fee is collected if
you choose public K. But the operation hours are limited and for families
with both parents working, you may have to send kids to before and/or
afterschool care programs. They observe a lot of holidays. They are closed
for spring, winter, and summer breaks, and on several teacher's working days
. And sometimes they also get "early release" days.
Primary school: Starting from 6 (after K). Same as K. For public school
information, you can check with your local school area. For private schools

发帖数: 9475 | 4 最后一点不太确切，Primary School是小学，美国这里一般叫做
Elementary School。公立小学一般从Kindergarten（5岁）开始，
但是有些从Preschool(4岁）开始。

托儿所又分全托和半托？贼贵。～1000左右？
公立幼儿园怎么我听说也有fee?不是totally free?
从公立小学才开始完全free？
所以如果小学6岁开始上的话，至少准备3-5岁的钱？1个月1个娃算1000刀，3年下来就
是1000×12×3=36，000！这是我的估计。 | c*******e

daycare 私立幼儿园，2个月到5岁
preschool 幼儿园大班，或者小学学前班小班。3-4岁
kindergarten 小学学前班。我们这里公立的不要钱。5岁
elementary school 小学。一般是K-5/6年级，也有preschool-5/6年级的
就是1000×12×3=36，000！这是我的估计。
