In addition, the definition of appropriate age for certain things is a variable, too. For example, while one 18 year-old can be a Harvard math professor, another 18 year-old might not be ready for calculus.
Furthermore, if you looked through the eyeglasses of a medieval school teacher, what your children is learning right now at school would have been all ADVANCED materials. Does that fact bother you?
IMHO, the problem with the notion that no intervention is the best intervention when child education is involved lies in its assumption that the "natural" developmental path for a particular child is set in stone and any deviation therefrom would be detrimental to said "natural" path. Really? Is the evolution path for human as a species a "natural" one?
