传英特尔千名工程师为下代iPhone开发芯片
新浪科技讯 北京时间10月17日上午消息，美国科技博客VentureBeat援引消息人士的说
法称，英特尔目前有1000名或更多人员正在从事2016款iPhone与英特尔7360 LTE调制解
调芯片的适配工作。如果进展顺利，那么英特尔很可能将为新的苹果片上系统（SoC）
提供调制解调芯片和芯片制造服务。
知情人士表示，英特尔正试图为至少部分2016款iPhone提供调制解调芯片。下一代
iPhone很可能是iPhone 7，其LTE调制解调芯片很可能会分别采购自英特尔和高通。目
前的iPhone全部使用高通9X45 LTE芯片。
英特尔CEO科再奇（Brian Krzanich）在近期的财报电话会议上表示，英特尔7360调制
解调芯片将于今年底开始出货，而采用这一芯片的新产品将于明年面市。
一名消息人士称，英特尔为苹果的项目配置大量人员是由于，对英特尔未来在移动市场
的发展而言，这一项目很重要。此外，该项目非常复杂，而苹果对供应商的要求很高。
消息人士称，苹果尚未与英特尔签订正式的调制解调芯片供应协议。不过，如果英特尔
能按计划完成目标，那么这样的协议很可能会达成。
英特尔未能在移动设备兴起之初及早抢占这一市场。目前，该公司正在努力追赶高通。
一名消息人士称：“对英特尔来说，这一次必须胜利。”
如此多人员从事这一项目可能也是由于，英特尔未来将更深入地参与到iPhone的开发之
中。
消息人士表示，苹果最终希望开发包含Ax处理器和LTE调制解调芯片的SoC。SoC的设计
将带来更快的速度和更好的能耗管理。一名消息人士透露，苹果将开发自主品牌的SoC
，并从英特尔处获得LTE调制解调技术的知识产权授权。
考虑到英特尔并不擅长SoC设计，而苹果在垂直整合方面通常做得很好，因此这样的计
划是合理的。近期，在iPhone 6s中，苹果已经将M9图形芯片与A9处理器进行了整合。
与此同时，英特尔很可能使用14纳米工艺为苹果代工SoC产品。目前，三星和台积电代
工iPhone的A9芯片，并且同样采用14纳米工艺。不过有消息称，三星和台积电的工艺存
在缺陷，即接口部分采用了20纳米工艺。与此不同，英特尔“从前端到后端”全部基于
14纳米工艺，从而带来优化的晶体管密度和栅极间距。
此外，英特尔正在开发10纳米工艺，这一点也吸引了苹果。10纳米工艺可以带来尺寸更
小的芯片和更快的处理速度，但目前尚未实现规模量产。未来两年内，这一芯片制造技
术可能将做好准备。
英特尔7360芯片来自英特尔的德国慕尼黑研发中心。这一研发中心曾属于英飞凌，而该
公司已于2011年被英特尔收购。在2011年之前，英飞凌一直为iPhone提供3G调制解调芯
片，但在被出售给英特尔之后停止了与苹果的合作。
消息人士表示，苹果工程师近期曾前往慕尼黑，与英特尔工程师合作，针对苹果手机优

Shares of wireless chip giant Qualcomm (QCOM) are down 12 cents at $58.98,
following a note from Credit Suisse’s Kulbinder Garcha this morning warning
the company risks losing the baseband chip business in Apple‘s (AAPL)
iPhone, citing speculation by VentureBeat.
Citing a piece Friday by VentureBeat’s Mark Sullivan, which claims Intel (
INTC) has 1,000 people dedicated to working on a baseband chip for the next
iPhone, in 2016, citing multiple unnamed sources.
Writes Miller, “Apple may dual-source the LTE modems in its new iPhones
from both Intel and Qualcomm. Today, Qualcomm’s 9X45 LTE chip is baked into
all iPhone modems.”
Garcha, who has an Outperform rating on Qualcomm shares, and a $77 price
target, is inclined to believe the piece:
The article, which seems credible, notes that winning business from Apple
has been a key focus of INTC, with around 1,000 people working on chips for
the iPhone. We believe that INTC’s acquisition of part of Via Telecom’s
assets could provide INTC with the CDMA IP they have long lacked. We believe
the risk of loss at Apple again underscores the challenging competitive
dynamics in the wireless chipset market (see our semiconductor team’s INTC
note also).
However, Garcha thinks Qualcomm could make up for an Apple loss by winning
back the slot in the other big flagship phone, Samsung Electronics’s (
005930KS) “Galaxy” line of devices. Qualcomm lost that deal this year in a
highly publicized switch by Samsung to use its own processors:
We assume that Apple will sell 240mn iPhones and about 51mn iPads (~30%
cellular enabled), in QCOM’s next FY, totaling 254mn connected devices.
Assuming that INTC wins 50% of this business at QCOM’s global average ASP
of ~$17, that’s a revenue impact of $2.2bn. At a margin of 15%, and a tax
rate of ~19%, that’s a FY16 EPS impact of $0.17. We note that this is not
currently included in our estimates (see sensitivity table below). This
could be offset by Samsung. As mentioned in our note Lowering smartphone
estimates; Apple still solid, we believe QCOM could win back share at
Samsung. Assuming Samsung sells about 76mn high end ($400+ ASP) smartphones
next FY, and QCOM wins half of that business, that results in 38mn phones.
Assuming these are higher ASP ($25) and higher margin (25%) Snapdragon chips
at the same corporate tax rate (~19%), this would boost QCOM’s FY16
revenue by about $946mn and EPS by about $0.13. Again, we note that these
assumptions are not currently in our model. | l***n

高通神伤 iPhone 7或将采用英特尔基带
10月19日消息，目前，iPhone 6s所搭载的A9处理器基带芯片皆由Qualcomm（美国高通)
一家全包，而这种情况可能在iPhone 7上发生变化。据外媒报道，英特尔或也将成为苹

据称，苹果对英特尔Intel（英特尔）7360 LTE 调制解调器芯片颇感兴趣，而英特人也
安排了1000名员工开始了针对苹果iPhone 7芯的优化工作。如果上述为实情的话，那么
iPhone 7所用基带芯片就有Intel 7360 LTE芯和Qualcomm（美国高通）9X45 LTE芯两种。
另外，知情人透露，用于iPhone 7的Intel 7360 LTE芯片还有望支持CDMA制式网络，电
