We visited 3 different doctors and gain enough knowledge to pick the best.
Basically, you want a doctor that uses the latest machine/procedure, known
as Intralasik, which is completely non-invasive. I think only 2 places in
the Bay Area have this machine.
The pre-visit was completely informative, and after visits excellent, the
staffs are very responsive and explained every process well.
P.S. They are also very expensive, $2K more than other doctors after
insurance. | b**********o 发帖数: 6 | 4 This is no such thing as non-invasive in LASIK surgery. The key point is to
make sure you're a good candidate for the surgery. (Baseline refractive
error, corneal thickness, whether you have dry eye and other chronic ocular
conditions, and most importantly your expectation with the surgical outcome)
. The surgical instruments are so advanced nowadays that it's almost all
automatic. As a result, doctors' skill do not play a critical role in those
procedures. What really differentiate a good doctor vs. a bad one is the
screening procedure and their experiences in taking care of the post-op
complications. | f********m 发帖数: 8397 | 5 don't do it, seriously.

Why don't you read what's involved in Intralasik before commenting.
Regular procedure requires the surgeon to manually peel the surface of the
cornea, while the Intralasik directly focuses the laser beam without the
need for this 'invasive cut'. No external wound and no irregularity.

| b**********o 发帖数: 6 | 8 We can only talk about the invasiveness of a surgery on a relative scale.
Just because the corneal flap is made by a laser keratome doesn't mean it's
completely non-invasive. It's just NOT AS INVASIVE as with a regular blade.
The amount of corneal tissue being PERMANENTLY removed during the surgery is
positively related to the baseline level of your refractive error.
When deciding whether or not to go for a LASIK surgery, it has to be looked
on a case-by-case basis. Other than the physical criteria listed previously,
a very critical consideration is the expectation of the surgical outcome. A
20/25 vision after surgery may be totally satisfactory to someone who's
very used to a blurry vision, but completely a failure to others who require
crystal sharp vision. In other words, it's highly dependent on the visual
expectations from the procedure.
Being an eye doctor myself, I'm hoping to provide a conservative and
objective guidance to the overall audience, not to elicit a debate. Please
don't take the comments personally. | i******4 发帖数: 72 | 9 百度百科上讲的很清楚,算一算就知道自己是否适合了。 |
