到阿西莫夫这个层次, 早已不靠这些奖项来贴金了.
阿西莫夫早年的机器人系列和"基地"(Foundation)系列在科幻
界影响至深至远. 尤其是基地系列, 不说故事本身, 单是一个
"银河帝国"的构想, 就为后来无数科幻作品提供了辉煌壮丽的
舞台. 甚至有人开玩笑说, 从"沙丘"到"星球大战", 都可以看
作是"银河帝国"某个时代某个角落的故事.
基地三部曲("Foundation", "Foundation and Empire" and
"Second Foundation")的最初单行本分别出版于1951, 1952和
1953年. 雨果奖是从1953年开始颁奖的, 那时却没有阿西莫夫
的份, 直到十年后, 1966年的雨果奖评出一个特别奖项, 叫做
"Best All-time Novel Series", 基地三部曲这才众望所归地
拿到了这顶空前绝后的桂冠.
1982年, 阿西莫夫迫于出版商的压力, 在中断三十多年后又写
了一本基地小说"Foundation's Edge". 我们可以想象一下, 金
庸封笔这么多年后 | p******m

Much better than Dune series I have read before... Dune was .. boring -_-
(well, maybe I should reread it sometime.. I had some difficulties on
English
when I read it ^^)
"Foundation's edge" is another great book. ^^
??? Foundation and Empires is ONE book. how can you seperate
the part about mule out?
I still need to read "robots" and other series by him...

No. "Foundation and Empire" was a collection of two
different stories published on "Astounding" magazine.
The longer one was named "Mule".

"The Mule" was the second story. I don't remember
what the first one was about, but it apparently was
not significant compared to "The Mule". :)

aaaaaaaah I remember it now! :)
hehehehe that is the last great general (somename) leading the last great
fleet of the empire to attack foundation, and he conquered like almost all
the
planet including the 4 core kindoms in foundation. But they somehow screwed
up before the foundation's headquarter, capital planet... (dont remember
how.^^)
And then mule kicks in! :)
