Web Developer – Ruby on Rails
We are looking for an entrepreneurial software developer with a strong track
record in delivering best of breed, production-level, consumer-facing web
applications.
The candidate should possess:
- At least four years experience in web application development.
- A background working within collaborative, flexible development team
environments, leveraging agile methodologies.
- A demonstrated ability to work closely with business teams, customer
service, QA, marketing, and program management to understand requirements
and propose elegant technical solutions.
- A can-do attitude, where the code serves the customer and the development
team is seen as the engine behind profitability.
- Experience with modern web frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Django, CakePHP,
Zend, etc.).
- A firm understanding of and experience with MVC design patterns.
- Experience writing web applications that interface with RDBMSs, especially
open source databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- An understanding of ORM layers such as Active Record and/or ODM layers
such as Mongoid.
- An ability to design and develop read/write RESTful web services to
support both internal applications and Internet facing API's.
- Experience with version control tools such as Subversion or Git.
The following qualifications are desired but NOT required:
- Experience with NoSQL implementations, especially MongoDB
- Mobile application development experience
- Experience with geospatial data and/or mapping applications using Google
Maps, Bing Maps, or similar platforms
- Experience with asynchronous message queuing architectures
- Understanding of web application security principles and practices
- Proficiency with JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, HTML4, HTML5 | B**y
