you mean bad/good fold?
he did shake his head and said he flopped a set. he realized he bet too much
in that hand one hour later when he talked to another lady.

I think you should get money in on the flop. as much as you can.

fold is ok if you trust your read.
but not raising the flop is horrible imo.

i agree in normal situations, i should raise here. but this hand is about
playing specific ppl, and that's why i want to post here.
1) my main target was the loose bettor, i knew he got nothing for me to
worry about, even there's a possible flush draw out there. he liked to bet
out $10 without position, i was more than happy to slow play him, and didn't
want to scare anybody behind me too.
2) for the old guy (he's a regular), 90% of time or for 90% ppl, all-in with
my straight was the RIGHT stra

I understand your reasoning behind this. But, if you read him wrong, you
made a wrong lay down and it would be a HUGE mistake. Can you trust your
read that much?

for this hand, i guess i was right because he was very disappointed (well,
he still could fake it, hehe). after i called his $60, we both knew what the
other one had, he was just too excited to push me all-in, like i said, 90%
ppl would not care the last $120 and fold a made straight.
watched his play all night later, he's not a bluffer but really a stubborn
one.

you played the hand well, you know your opponent,
and more importantly, controlled the pot size under right situation. It's
better to push on the turn, if the turn is no help to him.
I will go to AC tomorrow. How's your WSOP at Harrahs?

I think you missed one possibity here. He could have same hand or even 6s7s
and would not behave any different. There is an example in Doyle's Super
system
pushing nut flop straight out when board pairs with same hand.

yeah, that's one possibility too, but since he said he flopped a set, i tend
to believe him.

I still think it's a big mistake not to pushing all in on the flop. Your
reasoning basically based on your read that he hit a set. But how sure is
your read? Are you sure he could only raise the flop with a set? Not a made
straight, not bottom two pairs, not an overpair, or not a pair and a flush
draw, not a gutshut and flush draw, not open-ended str8 flush draw? What I mean is you can't be 100% sure about your read, why don't you push all in when you know you are way ahead(you were only behind

(i could always be wrong)but my read was more on his style.
1) over pair not very likely, with his $60 over bet for a $20 pot and no pre
-flop bet. i watched quite a few hands before and after when he hit over
pair, he's not that aggressive;
2) if he only got two bottom pair, it's possbile he made such a move with
possible flush draw/made straight on the flop, and two players.
3) if he hit top pair (9) + middle or bottom pair, then that turn would kill
me for sure;
4) if he hit a set (most likel

what happened afterwards had very little to do with your decision in the
moment.
you were right with your read, which is great. but you still could be wrong
unless you are always correct. and your play will cost you lots of equity
when your read was wrong.
from my experience, even the most passive person can be crazy sometimes, for
example, forrest gump punched that guy in the face when he slapped jenny.
