if go to sacramento, cheaper and only need a weekend, but less interesting
and might not worth visiting since there might be many other opportunities
to go to CA in the future
if go to Zion and Bryce Canyon, much more interesting but need to take
Monday off
any idea?

But for Zion and Bryce, if you have yet to see Utah, go.
They are worlds apart from the Pacific Northwest.

I have been to Zion, but never been to Bryce Canyon
Good suggestion that Sacramento can be a side trip!

Snow melt will create flash flood from March to May.
if you are experienced, you can still go,
but check weather condition with rangers before you step into the canyon.
