Hillary Clinton is currently on pace to be the worst performing major party
presidential candidate among the largest demographic group in the nation:
white people.
In the three most recent polls of national voters including racial
demographic breakdowns, Clinton is at 37 percent, 31 percent, and 31 percent
, respectively among white voters. President Barack Obama in 2012 won 39
percent of the white vote, and in 2008 earned 43 percent of the white vote.
Both John Kerry and Al Gore gained over 40 percent of the white vote in
their respective runs.
State polling also shows poor performance for Clinton among white voters. In
a Public Policy Polling poll of Ohio voters, Clinton is polling at 34
percent with whites. Exit polling shows Obama gained 41 percent of the white
vote in Ohio in 2012. A recent poll of Florida shows Donald Trump leading
Clinton 54 percent to 30 percent among white voters. Exit polling shows
President Obama got 37 percent of Florida’s white vote.
In the swing states of Ohio and Pennsylvania, Clinton is at 35 percent and
33 percent with white voters respectively.
