with during his brave military career. Because when Donald Trump humiliated
him for getting caught and tortured in Vietnam, McCain stood by and took it.
Not only that, he used his considerable political capital to actually
endorse the man despite disagreeing with virtually everything he says.

Ben, sad to say it isn't going to happen. McCain and Arpaio won their
primaries because they got tons of money from outside of AZ. Someone in the
power structure wants them here and the people of AZ are just to goddamned
stupid to vote them out. If either one of them loses in the general no one
would be happier than me, but I'm not holding my breath.

I lost all respect for McCain when I saw him interviewed in the aftermath of
the Iraq debacle. Among other things, he claimed that "we had no idea that
the Iraqi petroleum industry was in such a horrible state" (or words to that
effect.) Well, the CIA had declassified all sorts of intelligence
information that told us just that - that Iraq's oil infrastructure and
their petroleum industry was absolutely disseminated by years of abuse and
neglect. In fact, I - as an ordinary private citizen! - had read all about
it (as had tens-of-thousands of other people) before the invasion...
Of course the so-called journalist interviewing McCain let the lie stand,
but I was absolutely furious. Yes - McCain - just leave.
