发帖数: 353 | 4 第一年一年一发，第2-4年统一由qualify成绩决定，第5年似乎一部分人会申请外部奖
学金，另一部分拿系里的。不过如果你足够牛（没奖学金的人里前两三名），今年有人
是春季学期拿了奖学金的。BU据我所知每年发的ad还是很多的。还有。。。去年遇到的
情况，如果你TOEFL没够线硬申的，回头可能会有大麻烦。去年我就是接受了offer,还
有我老婆接受了AD,I-20一直不来，结果tmd到5月中旬告诉我由于toefl有问题，不给我
们clear，害得我们差点没地方去。总之这方面要多小心。anyway，welcome to BU |

金啥的，而且听PERRON说以后也很难弄到奖，先入为主啊，记得远在01年的时候录取的

I think the major problems in ad hoc are the critera and the assumptions.
If you model everything precisely, the problem will usually become
unsolvable.
Everyone has an intuition how a big ad hoc network should operate. People
make assumptions and show that the network should indeed operate in the
similar way. But, most of the time, the assumptions are not justified.
In some other situations, we use criteria that do not have clear practical

你这个想法估计不怎么样。学校给新生绝大多数是fellowship.老师有funding 的很少。
学生都各自找出路。很多第一年拿了fellowship的，第二年之后都愁着呢。
这儿是quarter制度的，首先你转master能不能成是个问号，即使能成，一年毕业将非
常的困难。
一个quarter,10周基本要干完4门课，可想而知。
我不太看好irvine的master学生找工作，学校master学生太多了，培训期又少，除非本
来牛，
一年毕业后找工作应该会比较痛苦，有些专业更是不现实。
如果你选择这个ad,你最好是长远打算一下，能读个博士就读博士。我非常的为你可惜
拒绝了那个offer,
在美国任何一个学校念一个ee master 都没有多少含金量的，无非就是难道一个工作许
可证。如果要念master,
挑个便宜的学校，能给钱的学校多好。

转master的话,如果我没拿学校或者老板的钱,应该没有人限制我吧.除非是学校规定有
master学位的人不给第二个
master.但是我怎么听说很多人都在国内读了研又到国外拿了master???这个我还需要了
解一下.
早点毕业以及找工作我还不是很担心,因为现在已经学了很多东西了,基础还是不错的.
如果可以转学分的话估计很快.
我已经有个master学位了,再来走这么一道也就是为了个工作许可.博士的话,还是想找
个钱多的地方,不能把自己搞
破产了...
至于拒了那个offer,也是想到可能有更好的机会嘛.看排名,uci也更好点.只是钱是个大

现在就是UCSB的ad和UTD的offer之间徘徊。
最主要是钱的问题。
UCSB学校好，而且地方也好，方向是communcation&signal process。
UTD是半导体器件和纳米材料方向，RA，PHD，中途好像没有硕士拿，韩国老板，钱还蛮
多的。
去UTD的话家里没什么负担，自己也可以过得轻松点，但是学校名气不是很好，好像读
phd不值得。
UCSB的ad似乎也很难得，但是去UCSB的话可能要问亲戚借点钱什么的。
就想问这样去UCSB的话值得吗？UCSB与UTD差很多吗？
马上要做决定，想问问大家的意见～

目前正在痛苦抉择中，因此让我上来MITBBS 来问问大家的意见。
目前主要的选择是U-Mass, ASU, Upitt, WPI 和 UC-riverside.
当初选校的档次没有拉开，因此来了一摞的AD，现在很纠结。。
我朋友的目标是Industry，不考虑Academics，希望半学期后就能有个实习的机会，毕
业后希望能做个网络工程师。
上面有3所学校是东部的，2所是西部的，不知道网络通信工程应该选择什么样的地理位
置将来更有利于就业呢？请大家给点参考意见哈~

毕竟一个腾校,另一个engineering top 10. 是不是宽进严出的原因还是缺经费？还是
一种办学理念：就是你稍有点水平，先让你进来，感受一下高手如云，迫使你很用功，
最终不是很牛都变得比较牛？
同时求证standford的ad也很水？ 不可能吧？ |

本人国内EE硕毕业，工作3年，工作的时候搞的是wireless sensor network。所以就申
了这个方向的博士。貌似说美国wsn的研究已经不热了。
几个AD如下
1.Stevens Institute of Technology Hoboken
2.University of Missouri Columbia
3.New Jersey Institute of Technology Newark
4.University of Illinois--Chicago
考虑到未来的发展，地区的安全性等，请大家给点建议。 |

现在的问题是，我不是太想在IT行业里面干，更是没有兴趣读PhD。
目前最理想的打算是，去了美国后考LSAT申请JD，Fall09就去读JD出来做律师。
次理想的打算是，如果进不了名校的JD，则把EE MS完成后在IT业界干二三年然后去读
MBA。
如果有朋友还有其他觉得我会感兴趣的career track，并对我现在的选择有帮助的，也
请告诉我。
倾向于Columbia的理由：

2 总排名，法学院，EE研究生排名比Northwestern高

2 学校设施及周围环境似乎比Columbia好（未确定，希望有经历的同学来讲讲）
3 Columbia的EE MS AD似乎是十 |

I am doing a scatter plot in R for those data points - Income vs.
EducationYears.
I would also like to using different colors to differentiate whether that
data point is a Registered Voter or not.

不好找工作？Boston是个好地方我比较喜欢。不过他们家要一直做TA很多年，很少人能
有机会做RA。
Wisconsin 是个AD，不过据说去年有几个AD去了，现在都拿到了奖学金，觉得
wisconsin地方比较偏，如果将来不做faculty工作好不好找？去了之后为了拿奖学金会
不会学得比较辛苦？（ps：我是个女生）
Wisconsin到时候读不下去应该可以转Master走人，BU是post master program,虽然修
8门课 和 master一样多，还是不知道到时候能不能转master走人。
我其实我不是很想做faculty，我以前读fe的，希望将来还是进industry，倒不一定是
finance，医药的公司也可以。我关心的主要还是将来找工作的问题，Boston地方好离
industry近，但是wisconsin还是名气大些，我不知道进药厂的话phd的学校重不重要，
反正我知道finance的话特别是大银行在招人的时候还是比较在意学校出身的。

反之如果对某些持续的数据, 作系统的analysis, 以后要重复
