if i use algebraic method, should I treat asymmetric just like symmetric,
updates all cells falling in the ray, just use different way of defining
each projection for angles?

上周，我参加一小型 academic retreat，吃饭时发生了一件事。我来818：
Mark Horowitz －一大牛，美国两院院士，Stanford prof
Jason Cong － 一中牛，UCLA prof
最近，Mark 纠结我们一批人，准备到 NSF 忽悠一笔钱。具他说，被 Jason
Cong 带的一堆人给截了道，从 NSF 先搞走一 frontier （5 mil／3 years）
Mark 扬言，Jason 是在他到 UCLA 做了一 talk 后才到 NSF 递的 proposal。
这顿饭，就是大家琢磨琢 |

可以。需要一个尺度在1个微米左右（a few hundred nm is OK too）。另外一个尺度
比第一个尺度小一些（1/10 to 1/4）。 同时这些颗粒需要可以在colloidal
suspension里有稳定悬浮。
看了一下金颗粒。但是太贵了。大家有没有什么好的建议。谢谢大家了！ |

on the front of an E36 M3 without a spacer or fender rolling at stock ride

当时组里唯一一个亚洲人就是一个四年级的日本师兄，很典型的那种让你记不住的日文
音传写（不知道他的汉字名字）。我们接触的次数实在有限，我现在对他的印象就是长
头发，戴眼镜，然后就是他的抑郁与忧愁。我最后一次见到他，是在一天晚上，他在吃
饼干，心不在焉地翻着那本strategic application of named reactions的书。他和我
说，他已经决定quit phd回日本了。也许是见我当时面有惊恐之色，他接着说，Steve
还是一个不错的老板，我决定quit了，他也很尊重我的决定，还给我写了推荐信。。。
于是很快，他就消失了，我便继承了这个师兄的hood，bench，和desk。我曾经试图了
解到底发生了什么，结果发现，他在人们的记忆中消失的很快，正如他的名字在网页上
消失一样。我听说的是，他因为全组从B大学搬到了A大学，到了一个新地方不适应，所

在这里潜水多年了，现在有了空儿，把一些事写出来。不是为了什么，也没有什么目的
，就当是个树洞吧。因为写的事情多多少少和化学有些关系，就发在这里了。

听说，人生最悲剧的就是放弃了不该放弃的，坚持了不该坚持的。
博士毕业了，我也离开了化学这一行。我觉得有些事，不是我们这一行的人很难理解，
所以把一些多余的话写出来，纪念一下似水流年。回过头来我觉得我们这些人都可以说
，我这一生最好的几年都是在hood里度过的，所以似乎也应该写下来。
我对化学，似乎有一些家庭渊源。我的父亲是做化工的，母亲也曾在化学实验室里工作
。小的时候就经常到我母亲工作的地方去，看到玻璃的瓶瓶罐罐，还是颇有神秘感的。
作为小朋友，现在想，我对科学的热情还是很高的，小学生的时候就在家里电解盐水（
可不是PS上的胡扯）。本科的时候也不知道怎么弄的，最后学了化学。应该说我对
quantitative的东西应该更擅长一些，本科时，物化的成绩一直比有机要好，但是因为
