slowly phase out。juvenile biography 开始经常有两三段 sensory
information 为主的 fiction 手法的段落，然后再转到 time-line 为主

比如俺娃 non-fiction 里面一半看的（在这周远远超过一半了），是 biography。
Biography 归类于 non-fiction literature。通俗的说，是 non-fiction 文科。 |

Fiction 很容易局限在 fictional character 以及 somebody similar
to the reader，从而“refuse change initiated from outside”。

engineer's secret life”，有帮助的。不过当时娃已经开始看一点

我刚才问了娃 magic school bus 是啥，娃的回答是：
“It is basically fiction”。
为了确定，我刚才去 wiki 查了一下 magic school bus，
wiki 上说：“... the Magic School Bus books present
scientific facts in the form of stories in which
fantastic things happen ...”。magic school bus
应该归类于 fiction，该 fiction 的目的是为了 early
exposure to non-fiction science。
我前面说的 non-fiction science/literature，还有
biography，是说真正的 non-fiction science/literature，
还有 biography，而不是历史故事那种。Juvenile section
的只是写得更简单些，让娃容易理解而已。 |

不放在 juvenile biography section，而是放在 juvenile music
section。
其中有个系列的，加上了很多漫画，俺觉得作为音乐史/艺术史入门知识
非常好。俺的娃，不是喜欢艺术类方向的那种，都很喜欢看。全系列总共
好像几十本吧，画家的占大头。不过音乐方面连 beetles 都有一本，
吼吼吼。但好像没有熬破蜡（opera）的，也不知道是不是被人借走了，
周末再去看看。。。
当然她就看过一遍就算了，毕竟她的兴趣不是艺术方向。不过我们上两周
已经把那个系列全部还给图书馆了，目前不在家里书架上，俺记不清作者

的速度应该还不会太快，当然，楼主的先进娃不知道。。。如果已经读得很快了，
那么可以开始考虑读 juvenile non-fiction，个人觉得从 biography
（是 biography 不是 biology）开始是一个不错的选择 。当然娃个体差异
很大的，基本原则就是 read 娃自己喜欢的书，难度合适，年龄合适，就好了。 |

内容很少，主要好像就是 National Geographic 一些动植物啥的，
再稍微加点自然现象冰雹啥的，自然物质啥的。
可能你们那里比较好，俺觉得俺们这里 science 和 biography 的
最大问题是强度不够，做不到跟 fiction 1:1 的阅读强度。不过这个
好像是没办法，比如俺的娃不那么喜欢 astronomy，astronomy 的
阅读强度少得实在可怜，这个没兴趣就没辙，俺也就算了。娃对 biography
和 medical science 的兴趣相对大很多，阅读强度就容易上的去。不知道
你们那里怎么搞这个的，俺们这里，俺觉得如果老师要硬上 non-fiction
的话，班级里肯定四分之三的娃看着窗外，包括俺的娃。。。 |

非常明显确切的 pattern 的。
我家大娃的 non-fiction 阅读，开始于二年级暑假快结束时，直接原因是 school
report 的字里行间，我觉得有词汇方面的 concern。
所以我给我家大娃开始课后图书馆阅读。跟目前的一年级小娃不同的是，大娃她开始图
书馆阅读时是三年级，那时她已经可以自己开始独立阅读，以及 silent reading。（
不像目前一年级小娃，需要 read to parent）。
大娃她的阅读一条平行线是开始于 juvenile non-fiction 的 biography topic，从大
约 lexile 500L 左右的 biography 开始，到三年级的 X'mas 的时候她对 Anne Frank
的 the diary of a young girl (lexile 1080L) 感兴趣，反复借出来好几次，之后
text complexity 不再是图书馆阅读的瓶颈。之后读一些 juvenile non-fiction
history 之类。

我记起来我家大娃在三年级最初看的 biography 的系列是 “History Maker Bios”。
BTW：这里的 Bios 是指 biography(传记)，而不是 biology (生物)。// run
“History Maker Bios”，这套书的 lexile 相对较低，记忆中是 lexile 400L -
700L 不等。大娃她在 “The Diary of a Young Girl: Anne Frank” (lexile 1080L)
之前就看了。
我家大娃三年级看的娃版 History，lexile 一般是 800L 左右。在 Anne Frank 那本
之后几个月后才看的。
当然现在她也不看娃版 history 了，过了那个村了。
我的意思是，对我们大人来说，“看这种history 的东西又不需要基础”。但认知过程
中的娃娃不一样，除了要 leixcon / syntax / semantics 的基础以外，还需要

对1，我没读过poe作品汉译，也不好评论。
对3，罗嗦几句poe这一位作者，poe凑稿费的可能性几乎为零，读这位同学biography会
发现他毕生畚斗目标之一是自己办杂志，做editor，，，和editor关系非常糟糕，因为
酗酒被editor认为unreliable，毁掉（若干）本来不错的business relationship，除
了behavioral问题，poe的poe文风在当时和身后都很不讨好，找到评论指摘，而poe一
意孤行坚定不移的走在他的羊肠小道上。
poe在本土风评，我个人感觉偏低，美国人不喜欢他造作卖弄长篇累牍的，认为他的风
格幼稚好像高中生的不在少数。有人说poe在欧洲的声誉高一些，还有folklore说他被
Baudelaire的极力推重（Baudelaire的folklore也特多了，倒不差这一件）。。。并籍
此印证poe的品质。。。这些都是文盲我的道听途说，我可以肯定的是poe同学在中国的
中学生（我们一代）里声誉还真是相当不错滴～～～

lived and died. At some basic level, the celebrated and the ordinary people
go through the same things in life: people are born, raised. Then they try to
find a purpose in life, do good work, find a partner, and make the best
decision in various circumstances. Why should I care about what all these
people did year-by-year, when I have my own life to worry about?
