public health school里面有biostatistics, 统计系下面也有biostatistics,还有些
医学院里面也有biostatistics的program,到底这么多个biostat有什么不同,找工作的
时候是不是专门的统计下的biostat比public health 下面的biostatistics更好找工作
些啊 ?
不过个人感觉pbulic health school里面的生统实践性更强,一般的资助也都是
research assistance,这样对以后的工作来说似乎更好些.还有个困惑就是现在的所谓
的sophas联盟,是不是进了联盟的就说明这个学校的public health还不错 ?

前段时间联系本校dept of biostat的一个老师。一是想选她下学期的biostat II，一
个就是问问她关于专业的问题。
和她email来往了几封，她告诉我学校今年第一次招Epidemiology and Biostatistics
的PhD,但是还没对外advertise，原因是学校还没approve。她告诉我吐过有兴趣可以联
系另外一个负责的老师for detailed information。
我google的一下这个Epidemiology and Biostatistics 专业，以及凭个人感觉： 这个
方向是不是很偏重医学方面？ 我没有任何的医学背景，到明年毕业的时候能修够5-7门
stat和biostat的课，如果直接去读的话， barrier会比较大嘛？
我个人想中的biostat是做药厂或者clinical trial， 和医学有些相关，但是主要还是
运用数学和stat的能力。
所以对于Epidemiology and Biostatistics 这个方向有些迷惑。希望版上的牛人们 |

medicine department 底下， 另一个是university of Illinois at chicago 的
biostatistics.
现在西北的硕士是一年读完， 但是学费就要5w, uic的一年半读完， 大概要3w的样子
。
我想请问大家西北大学值得去么？？对以后找工作或者是继续读博会有很大帮助么？？

临选择：
1）继续留在工程学院，大概一年半和两年毕业，但是新老板（老印）不咋地。感觉跟
他可能就是混个毕业，然后找工作。但是现在又怕没学到真本事，不好找。
2）去biostatistics读Ph.D， 但是至少还要4年，项目还比较好。自己也不小了，26了
。也希望早点毕业找工作。
不知道大家怎么想，求求大家给点意见。例如biostatistics现在的就业情况，值不值
得再耗上4年？

发帖数: 123 | 44 小弟最近拿到这两个学校SUNY-Buffalo 和 SUNY-Albany的Biostatistics 硕士AD,虽然
也知道这两个学校都不是非常好，但是矮子里面挑高子，自己自费读个MS也不容易，想
多了解一点信息：
1. Buffalo的program叫MA（ master of arts)，不知道为什么和很多学校不一样，我
查了下MA，好像这个和MS也差不多，以后如果想申Ph.D. 也是完全可行的，确实是这样
的吗？找工作的时候有没有什么差别？
2. 排名是Buffalo的更高，学费也稍贵一点。不知道这两个学校那个的Biostatistics
MS Progam教学质量或者名气更大些？基本上我的硕士AD两年的学费还是够的，但是因
为希望减少一点家里的负担，如果可能我还是希望在学校找点事情做。请问MS学生在这
两个学校找到工作的可能性哪个相对大些？
3. 考古本版，很多版友认为地理位置还是挺重要的，这两个学校都在纽约州，Buffalo
感觉稍偏一点，而Albany离NYC和Boston都近些，如果从学校环境，或者以后找工作的
方便程度来看，大家觉得那个更好？

nanoparticle-based drug delivery/molecular imaging方向,可是生物工程貌似在国
内一直是就业率最低的专业之一（和生物扯得越近以后出路越麻烦)。由于注意到学校
安排的第一年课表上又不少与Biostatistics相关的课程，如Applied Biostatistics
，Bioengineering Statistics等，所以不知道如果想去了以后第二年转专业到
iostatistics的话是否可行？谢谢各位指点！ |
