美国学者蒂莫西•科勒想通过研究房子来探寻人们生活的社会有多不公平。只不
过他研究的，是古代人的房子。
5年前，65岁的科勒蹲在美国科罗拉多州的普韦布洛遗址里。这位华盛顿州立大学考古
系教授正拿着一把现代的尺子去丈量前人遗留下的房屋面积。他想量出的是那一时期该
区域人们生活的平等程度。
前年秋天，科勒在美国一个重量级的考古学家会议上发出邀请，他希望更多的人加入这
项研究。会场反响很热烈。来自10多个研究机构的共13位学者研究了欧洲、亚洲、北美
、非洲共63处古遗址，时间从公元前9000年到公元1500年。这是迄今为止同领域内规模
最大的一次研究。

才奇怪。”当时美国农业部的首席顾问德尔.穆阿博士，此前是“全美牛肉协会”的首
席顾问。美国农业部当时任命的政府发言人哈里逊（Alisa Harrison），此前的职务是
“全美牛肉协会”的广告部部长，在那之后还一直宣传“美国没有疯牛病”。因为美国
禁止进行疯牛病检测，导致大量的美国人感染疯牛病。对新佐治亚州一个牛肉消费团体
进行检测，发现感染率已达0.8%
一个农场女主人要对自己拥有的每头牛做疯牛病检测。但农业部竟然阻止她，因为
农业部只是抽查一些送检的，她自费检查就是“不正当竞争”。农场女主人愤然起诉农
业部，被判败诉。

这个民兵暴动，我觉得纯粹是某些人趁机拉知名度。
不过这个案子的引发事端处理得非常有问题。相关报道我看了，是因为当地有两个农民
（父子俩）他们的地和联邦的保护区是连在一起的。在2006年，保护区里面因为雷电而
引发了野火。为了防止野火延蔓到他们自己的地里，他们在他们自己的地上烧了一把
back fire, 小部分的烧到了保护区的地带，但是他们自己把火扑灭了。再加上当时保
护区里的野火本来就是往那个方向烧的，所以他们自己觉得没有什么问题。
但是。。。问题就出来了。因为他们烧的火延蔓到了保护区里面，按照美国的法律，就
算烧了一寸也是烧了。于是，他们就被警长请去喝咖啡了（真的就是用喝咖啡的名义叫
过去的）。后来经过几年的反复波折之后，他们被按照故意纵火罪来治罪，而且被罚了
