tile, you'll have to do some detective work to find out whether it's plywood
, cement backerboard, or a thick bed of mortar. Put on some safety glasses
and leather work gloves; broken shards of tile can slice skin like a knife.
Then grab a cold chisel and a three-pound sledge. There's nothing subtle
about breaking through tile. Just pick a few in the middle of the floor and
whack away until you can see what's underneath. |

Improving drainage is more desirable. Sump pump can remove the water in your

least abrade the top until very rough. Other wise will be very hard to spread the thinset.
You can use ditra on the leveling compount directly.

Ditra is more like a option for the kitchen (not a must), if your kitchen is
small and you don't need the tile to last forever, you can just lay
directly on the subfloor (plywood). Ditra is used de-couple the subfloor to
the tile, so the the tile will be perfect after many years. |

候不知道渗下去多少，应该不会很多，subfloor的接缝其实挺紧的。这个东西干了后摸
上去好像是胶水加水泥的复合材料，强度挺高的。会不会断裂，潮气这些我不知道，它
的功能就是填平地面，可能没有防潮的作用吧。

If you shop around, you can get one for less than $20.
Make a perfect round hole, cordless drill should be ok (18v Dewalt kind)
Cement siding is not easy to cut perfect using other method. Most saw blade
will dull very quickly and if your hole is not perfectly round, you will
have a tough time seal it with caulk.

do the work. Cutting cement board will dull the saw quickly if get too hot

seller. In the disclosure, the seller said that they have patched several
cracks in the basement with hydraulic cement to stop seepage. Today we went
into the basement to do another review. While we feel the basement is kind
of dry, we did see several horizontal and vertical cracks with water stains.

on floor put 1 inch sand mortar, not sure about the name, a mixture of
cement and sand with 5:1 (not sure about the ratio, you can search it on
line), make sure the shower pan is graded
on floor put one more layer of felt paper, then PVC film(shower liner, ??)
add shower drain, this step is tricky
on floor put wires and 4 inch of sand mortar, make sure it is graded
then you can tile the shower pan |
