偶然发现博士老板跟seach committee chair是校友好像关系还不错，
之前老板已经发过推荐信，请问这种情况下有无必要再催促老板给那个chair再发信或
打招呼重点再推荐？老板跟我关系还不错，我应该可以催促他这么做， 如果有必要的
话。

到Chair的email,先说他们上周discuss了,还是觉得我的application很impressive。但
是一些issues被raise了，所以希望跟我review/discuss these issues over the
phone.
我承认我一看“issue"这个词就不淡定了。
大家看看可能是关于啥呢？
我来回忆一下面试吧：
1.第一天见了无数人，跟Chair第一次见面谈了1小时很positive，job talk很positive
，晚饭很放松，一群faculty和我一起吃，有说有笑。我当时几乎是哼着小曲，高兴的
回了hotel。
2.可能raise issue的基本都谈了，LD是否愿意来这里，我什么时候可以start，lab
space，等等。
3.第二天上午继续见人，都很positive，有些faculty还给我chalk talk的小tip。然后
中午chalk talk，现在想可能问题出在这里。我讲了3个p |

这个职位没有funding的要求。我想请教：1. 和Dean以及Chair的谈话有没有侧重的内
容? 2. 和他们谈话主要是我问问题，他们回答，我倾听? 还是主要由他们问问题，我

回得非常快。包括在申请这个职位之前我问他一些事情，他都回得很快。我的面试结束
的同一个星期，最后一个candidate也结束了。我等了两周没消息，就发了邮件问
search chair情况，他没有回我的邮件。又过了一周，我发邮件问我是否还有希望，他
还是没有回。这周我又发邮件问他，是不是这个offer已经给别人了？他还是没有回。
在这几周期间，有次我问他关于路费报销的事情，他很快就回了。但是有关职位的事情
一概不回。我是不是没戏了?
其实即使没戏了，他告诉我也好，免得我一直忐忑不安的，尤其是每次电话响起的时候，总希望是offer来了。 |

情况：1.拒；2. 在waiting list。我有次去面试，过了一周，我问情况，search
chair说我的表现很好，但不是最好的，他们准备把offer给No.1,但是说No.1还在考虑
。还说，如果No.1有变化，我就有希望。后来又过了两周，我再问，他直接说No.1接受
了offer,我被拒了。
我觉得能告诉实际情况挺好的。 |

and ups these days, single indicident like that made me upset and worry.

联系我，我就写了个email问候，上礼拜回了要list of courses，也没有update我怎么
回事,然后又不吭声了，昨天打电话过去，一开始小蜜说在meeting,接着等我再次打的
时候收到他的email说在处理，他打电话回来就说“what is it?"然后complain因为我
不是very strong candidate所以要走额外的程序，问我grant的事情，后来我追问我是
否应该stop我的其他申请，他说no definitely no.整个讲话过程有些rude，是中国人但是口
音很奇怪，基本上大半没听懂他在说什么，。
是我太pushy吗？从三个礼拜前给口头offer至今自始至终也没有问我会不会接受啥的。不给我个准话我还得准备其他backup plan啊。 |

you are backing him into a corner and trying to squeeze a decision out of
him. There are a lot of things that the chair can not control so he can't
give you an definite answer before the final decision even he wants to hire
you. You should try to refrain yourself from pesting him.

writing abstracts for EVERY author). I by default is the chair of the
symposium, and I added my boss as co-chair.
then the problem is the system only allows for 6 presenters, but my boss
wants to have 7, then unless I take myself off, this would not work..
Should I take myself off the presenters??

去面试的，考虑到天气的原因，要早点送我去机场，所以面试过程比较简单，和dept
chair也没聊多久，chair只是随便问了问将来开展什么样子的research而已，也没逐个
和faculty面谈，中午的时候，一起在会议室吃了点饭，我问了他们几个问题，然后也
说了说自己将来的研究。 |

他列的时间我都要给学生上课。就当天回信问约另外时间可不可以。没回复。昨天（星
期一）就发了信apologize for any inconvenience 再问大概什么时候能 expect to
hear from you about the phone interview schedule。到现在还是没回复。
很着急。这样没回复正常吗？要再等等还是要找search committee chair？怕这个秘书
办事不可靠把我漏了，又怕找chair别人觉得我太pushy.

program）chair。本来这种事情我是很感兴趣的，只是我现在是薄后，正在找工作，
时间紧，压力大，所以有点犹豫要不要花时间去做找个。比如，如果做这个chair对于
找工作不会有帮助的话，我可以申请不做这次的，做下一年度的。
想来听听前辈的意见。

?）被要求在2-3天内给发一个未来3年可能需要用到的仪器及价钱。Chair好像说要拿这
个List和Dean去商量什么，但是当时基本burnt out了也没怎么听清楚。这种Startup
list难道不是给了offer以后才操心的吗？还是说是标准程序？实在没经验，还请各位
前辈指教。我是工程专业的，面试的学校是那种本科排名比较高，但要在未来几年力推
engineering research的private university。谢谢！ |
