Executives from around the world are profoundly pessimistic about the
ability of companies operating in the U.S. to compete in the global economy
and to pay high wages to U.S. workers, a survey of more than 6,800 Harvard
Business School alumni found.
Some 58% of the respondents expect the U.S. to weaken on one or both of
these two dimensions of competitiveness over the next three years. Only 25%
expect the country to improve on one or both.

Just some questions about the ballroom dancing competitions.
What competitions are good for Amature Couples (beginner level) if I am not

Can I still go to the College competitions? Are there other competitions that
i can go to?
Where can I find a list of such competitions? If a competition name has sth

What are the differences between USISTD, NDCA, and USA Dances?

I think College competitions and Amature competitions are not expensive.
but Pro/Am competitions seems to be terribly terribly expensive.
The competition package the studio quoted for me is nearly $2000, Even though it includes 2 days of hotel and 2 days of meal, it still sounds insanely expensive to me.
This is exactly why I want to look for Amature competitions in the area, but having trouble finding any :(

I think this may be dependent on program/dvision. For instance, in CISE CNS,
many "competitive" proposals are funded. In the several panels I attended,
usually only 1-2 are rated as highly competitive, and there are usually 3-4
competitive proposals that may be funded.
On the other hand, things appear to be different in CISE IIS. My colleague
just got a "highly competitive" proposal declined there. In CNS, I have not
heard this happened to any one.
Any different experience?

The current CISE rule is maximally 30% of proposals in the panel can be put
in either "highly competitive" or "competitive" categories. In other words,
"highly competitive" and "competitive" will be less than 30%... Yes, NSF POs
can select any proposal from the "HC" and "C" pool to fund. They still
typically choose the "HC" ones...But they do have the power to choose to
fund some "C" ones (over "HC").
The difference between CNS and IIS is, CNS has a much higher funded rate
than IIS in each year.... 阅读全帖

Is there a website that lists major competitions and groups them by some

I had the same experience. Panel rated it highly competitive, but still
declined.
This scenario is very very rare though. Highly competitive means top 15% in
most programs, and in my experience as a panelist, this ~15% ratio is
strictly enforced.
however, since you can't get exact 15% due to rounding errors, in practice
it's often 13%~16% (e.g. 2 out of 13, or 3 out of 19), and the unlucky ones
happen to be those on the borderline.
