Indeed, there are many Ph.D. programs that can be closed. The first one on
my list to close would be the Religion program in Columbia university. Why

没有任何deadline，open until fill.申请之前那就要问问是否还available了。
open until fill, but full consideration need application submited by xxx
date。这个date也就是deadline了。但我遇到一个系的情况，明明广告上这个date是比
如2月15号，但系主任在信中说他们开始review是2月1号。虽然说full consideration
还是2月15号,但觉得先看得先申请的材料是不是比最后2月15号才交的材料有优势呢？
大家怎么理解的阿？是不是我这个新手想得太多了？ 大家不要拍我。

我的理解是对于1，2，3， 你每写一个具体的specific aim 的时候都必须单独提出来
。所以你在那个12页的正文里其实是每个大段落都必须有Premise, Rigorous, and
other considerations这三个小段落。我觉得Premise其实就是以前的那个Rationale的
等价品, 而Rigorous, and other considerations差不多就是以前的那个pitfall and
alternative resolution 的代替品。这个是我的理解，不知道对不对。希望参加了今
年的review panel 的人来说说。 |

今天距我去kpmg inside look整一周，一周内从期望到失望，到
冷静，现在心情已经平复。决定发发面经，虽然现在recruiting
season已经过了，估计价值不大，不过考虑到当初我特想了解整
个过程的心情，希望至少能对将来要面第二轮的人有些许帮助。
我去的是chicago office。

在kpmg check in 以后，大家一起坐大巴（一共两个大巴）去一
个餐厅的二层，本来以为是个休息等待室，结果服务员来提供开
胃菜和饮料，然后就发现大家都站着开始聊天了。场地比较拥挤
，不过气氛很轻松随意。我前后和三个firm里的人聊了聊，时间
就差不多过去了。不过因为是我第一次穿高跟鞋，我感觉站了好
久好久，脚都疼得不行了。

的。
1.因为不招new grad，我们组的recruiter说不收new grad的简历，所以new grad发给
我的简历，我都递到general consideration，因为我实在不知道负责college hiring
的是谁。而这个general consideration作用有多大，我也不清楚，目前没听到我refer
的同学跟我说收到面试了。
2.有经验的。因为我们组是招有经验的(不是指相关经验，而是不是new grad就可以了
），所以我都直接发给我们组的recruiter，而这个recruiter都很积极，快的我知道一
个小时就通知面试了，慢的好像也没超过三天。
3.电面完之后，基本上面试官最迟不超过当晚就写feedback，基本上第二天就通知下一
步，当然我也知有同学是第三天才通知。可能这个还是取决于recruiter自已的效率。 |

美国最高法院正在重新考虑是否需要禁止大学招生考虑种族因素。
美国宪法14修正案“平等保护条款”保证给予每一个人均等机会，而不是针对种族而区
别对待。我们相信，高校招生政策应该符合美国宪法14修正案的精神。很遗憾，亚裔学
生长期以来遭受严重的歧视。“全国高校的经验研究”（NSCE）项目进行了超过9000个
学生采访。普林斯顿大学社会学家托马斯Espenshade进行严格的回归分析，得出如下结
果，此此结果也被新闻媒体广泛引用：如果想被名牌大学录取，在其它条件类似的情况
下，亚裔学生 SAT 成绩必须要比白人高140分，比西班牙裔高280分，比黑人高450分（
总分1600）。(这个分析已经把性别，GPA， 体育等方面的因素考虑在内)
目前已经有41483参与投票，发出我们对大学招生中的种族歧视的抗议。我们
还需要9000多个投票，以显示我们的关注力度。请确保你的配偶，孩子，父母，朋友，

Statutory Warranty Deed，上面写The Grantor XXXXXXXX in consideration of Ten
dollars and other good and valuable consideration in hand paid, conveys and
warrants to XXXXX (my name), the following real estate blabalablablabla.
这个Ten dollars真是太搞笑了，10块钱交易的？显然不是。 |

这个consideration就是你认真考虑过了，量化成一个具体的数字，就写10刀。
并不是说这个交易才值10刀。

了。几乎没有一张顺利拿到的卡顺利开成的户，RP就这么不行么我……总体来说折腾得
还算有成果吧，不枉费我打的几十个电话跑的数次银行……期间在版上咨询了很多问题
，获益匪浅，现在来写篇自己的经历回报版上，给新拿到SSN想申卡的新人们参考一下
吧。当然，YMMV。
结果：Chase开户$310，ING开户$76，Citi Forward 10000pts，Chase Freedom
10000pts，Discover Escape 25000miles，BoA 123 no bonus（气死了……下面会说为
啥）。
失败：AMEX SPG，BoA Secured Credit Card转FIA AMEX。
先介绍一下背景，11年8月来美，在Boston读小硕，11年12月申请了一张BoA的Secured
Credit Card，年费$39，存$1000有$1000的额度。我觉得这个还不错后来证明信用记录
确实是从11年12月开始的，有点后悔没有一来就申请……
