I think they are not gonna show up all the time for all courts.

现在对法官的判决有点不满意,我想着再去file 一个appeal,可是我又不确定胜算有
多大或者有没有必要,想在这里请教一下。
我们从09年底和这个agent/property manager 租房到13年中,交的security deposit
$1350, agreement上说这个钱是refundable的;搬出来之前我们打算的挺干净,但是忘
记让agent做walk-thru inspection了,她也没提醒我们。一个月后我们在外州的新址
收到她通过公司名义寄来的refund statement;罗列了各种cost,没有附上invoice/

Today in Redwood city, court should start at 8:30am, no judge came until 9:
15am.
The person finally showed up (looked like a substitution)came in without any word of apology.
I twice requested dismissing my case based on the court's fault (judge being 45 minutes late), but did not get it from the substitution(?) judge.
He later told me that my behavior in the court was not appropriate (hinting I could be thrown into jail by demanding dismissal).
Base on the following article, I want to pursue

In the court of law, judge is the king. You argument is nonsense since the
case is the state of california against you. It's totally different
from the article you quoted.
Watch out for contempt of court order and you could be fined or even jailed
if you make the judge angry.
There are ways to complain about the judge (you won't get any result),but
definitely not in his court!

I believe they stopped doing the name changes at naturalization. At least
that was the case a couple of years ago when I did it.
Going through the court system doesn't take a year. You just need to go to
a local court, schedule a time, and the judge will issue a court order for
the name change. Then you need to notify banks / employer / social security
/ etc. Took me about 2 weeks.

Okay, I have been to the Traffic Court in Santa Clara early this year for "
no turn on red" violation.
I first scheduled the court as you did. The judge is the law, you do
remember. On the day of court, it is kind of formal with ~60 people with
traffic ticket claims (as Judge Judy Show). The judge will ask you to cite
what happened that day and he will normally reduce the fine and with option
to go to traffic school to clear all the points. No police will show up that

你在ticket上签字就是答应你会处理ticket。court没有任务寄任何东西给你。court很
多时候寄给你的是叫courtesy notice,就是说是一个courtesy(出于礼貌)。court寄
不寄东西给你,你都一样对ticket要负责。
警察很有可能过了ticket上的日期还没有把ticket 输入。当然也有可能永远都不输入
。警察把日期改了也应该再寄一分东西给你,但是这种东西有可能寄失。你最好时不时
联系法庭去查。
ticket这种东西在加州的statute of limitations是一年。就是说如果一年后才把案件
弄到法庭,那你就可以完全把它dismiss掉。

明早在court有个parking ticket的hearing,king county court的主页说他们今天关
门了,这个hearing是mail通知的,现在在网上查到我的case还是安排在明天早上,那

I used to use tennismaps. But the nnetis list much much more courts than
tennismaps, especially around Metropolitan areas.
for example, in silver spring Maryland area, there are more than 300 courts listed (check snapshot below) instead 3 courts in tennismaps.

If you give your choice of surface to play USTA match, which one you prefer?
CLay or Hard court?
I will choose to play on hard court.
Most surface of clay courts are not well maintained so you will not get
normal bounce when you play, not even count when ball hit on line tape.

如果俩个single player配合用发球和cross court打双打专家。
是不是可以扬长避短。对方双打的技术就发挥不出来了。
自己网前那个,等对方底线出软球,就拍死。
请问这样可行吗?
昨天我和我的单打队友,用发球和底线cross court,把我们队的double搭档赢了。
感觉就像用单打的技术,打双打。
他们网前那个人基本就没碰到过几次球,底线那个被压得怎么也上不来。
我们cross court角度打得很大,网前那个要是强行挪到中间poach,
就DTL他。

我在New Jersey的Jersey City,前几天儿子学校去field trip,换了个包,所以忘了
带monthly pass,坐light rail的时候查票被拦了下来,写了单下周五要上court,想
问一下上court的时候要不要认guilty?
我自己是这样考虑的,虽然我真的买了月票,但当时确实没带在身上,应该就是属于“
failture to display proof of payment upon request",应该就是guilty了,所以我
倾向于承认guilty,但不知道认guilty、交罚款以后会不会影响留下什么纪录、影响
credit history之类的,于是有点纠结,到底要不要认guilty.....

It seems many firms prefer their litigation associates to have some moot court
experience. But does it matter whether it's internal moot court competition
or external national competition? Since I can't choose both, I wonder if
someone could give some advice on which one is more preferable.
On one hand, I feel the external ones are better because you get one-on-one
advising sessions with professors; on the other hand, the internal one shows
up as "member, Honors Moot Court Board" on the resum

我以前去過small claim court追客戶欠我的賬,贏了,但是他們沒有什麼好的enforce
的方式,錢也沒拿到,長見識了而已。
上small claim court以個人名義告的話好像最多$7500,但租房這種case怎麼定金額呢

我们现在跟房东提出的要求就是把lease提前到4月底,没有要求赔偿损失。
房东的意思是,他会release我们的lease,如果能找到人住进来。也不给一个时间。他
就是想他
先找到tenant,然后我们再开始找房子。这样跟我们terminate lease没有任何区别。
如果没
有人住进来,我们就要一直付房租。
当然,很有可能是能马上找到下一个tenant。但是所有的风险都是我们承担,房东没有
承担任何风
险。
现在的情况不是我们无缘无故要结束lease,是我们在不完全知情的情况下,居住条件
下降很多。
而在这种环境住了已经很久,实在没法住下去了。我们觉得不应该承担所有责任。
最后可能不一定上court,但我们起码要让他知道,我们是有准备上court的,而如果上
court,
提出的条件就不仅是提前结束lease了。算个跟他negotiate的方法吧,否则他一点都不
让步,可
能我们一直都太nice了。

水平真高,不但把arbitration给生吞省略了,还硬生生加上了“国际”两字给自己壮
胆。
WIKI上说的明明白白PCA IS NOT A COURT,轮子也是选择性忽略。

今天在montreal downtown的complexe desjardins的food court吃饭,一家泰餐快餐店
,老板显然是老中,点了个Pad Thai,在账上加了5%的小费Tips,觉得好奇怪,我当时
没说啥,把钱付了,不知道北美国是否都是这样,在美国我从不记得在Food Court吃饭
要算小费。当然5%也没多少钱,但不愿意被别人当傻子耍。

The U.S. Supreme Court has pushed the date of the announcement on whether it
will take on the case challenging California's Proposition 8, known as
Hollingsworth v. Perry.
The court was supposed to announce November 20 whether it would take the
case, but the date has been pushed to November 30.
